- Is OpenMP only available in the Professional level of Visual C++ This seems to be the case from what I've been able to read so far...
It would be nice if OpenMP was included at least in the standard version since pro costs upwards of $800. Compare that to Intel's C++ compiler which comes in at around $400 and has OpenMP support. :-/

- Hello, I want to create a bunch of instances of a class. I don't know how many instances I will create because the number depends on a random variable. The creation of the instances should be in a function using a loop and the random variable as the incrementer. Now, the problem is that the instances go out of scope once I end the function. How do I make the instances available to the rest of the

The file is a zip, and includes an exe, a prefs file (which is needed), and the source. The source was not written in Visual C++, obviously, but i need it to work in VC++, cause i cant get any other compiler to work on it. It was written in 2002, so it's a little

- Regular renaming works fine:
1. An existing file 3.txt exists at the c:\scripts directory
2. Renaming 3.txt to 4.txt, the following code works fine.
Renaming a newly added file does not work:
1. Add 5.txt to the c:\scripts directory
2. Rename 5.txt to 6.txt
Noticed 6.txt is not printed. The new filename is blank. Is there something wrong with the buffer access at the FILE_ACT

But when I want to add a project to call it, and use the menu New Project, it does not allow me to add the VB project to an existing solution.
I think if I do it the other way around, it might work: Create a VB projec

I have noticed a lot of COM samples that the function AddRef and Release function of COM inteface is not synchronized to make it thread safe when dealing with adding/decreasing reference count.
Is it needed to synchronize AddRef and Release Or the COM runtime underlying implementation handles thread safe issue by itself (i.e. transparent to upper layer COM server developer)
