- ERROR_WMI_INSTANCE_NOT_FOUND 4201 The instance name passed was not recognized as valid by a WMI data provider.
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms681387.aspx < this is the only error explanation I have found so far (it's really not very helpful)
I cannot start the event log service no matter what I try as a workaround. I really don't know what caused it to stop or what

- To make this question simple: What are these parameters
I just guess that the instanceOwnerShipDuration is the maximum time this Workflow is keep in storage And loadingInterval - no idea
Anybody got an explanation for these parameters
The documentation is kind of the parameter name, so it does not tell much more...
stanceOwnershipDuration The length of time to maintain ownership.

- I have an activity which invokes a web service. The web service has a parameter which isn't serializeable, and is throwing an exception when the SqlPersistance trys to unload the runtime.
So my question is, is there some property or setting I can set to make the SqlPersistance ignore certain parts of my workflow, since really they don't need to be persisted anyway

Does Vista (or old xp) have anything similiar to kernel extensions or does it even have kernal extensions

- I have written a basic DirectShow application based on the DSWebCamCapture example in which I load and connect Filters programmatically using their class IDs. Instead of using the RenderStream methods I connect the filters directly. In it's simplest form I connect the WebCam filter and connect it to a video renderer and then run the graph. 1) If I run the exe through the Visual Studio 2005 debugge

- Hello,
I've been trying to set the level of a particular part by using the IAudioVolumeLevel interface of the API. I can Activate a valid instance of the interface, and when I call GetLevelRange on it, I get a min value of -34.5, a max value of 12, and a step value of 1.5. However if I loop through the valid step values and set them with SetLevelUniform, while comparing the value of the volume

I checked both c:\temp, c:\windows\temp, assigned the proper permission for certain user.
But, it failed even as admin logged in.
C dll is part of our product, it's not something we can have

- Installing WinFX A successful installation of .NET Framework 2.0 is the first thing we need to use Windows WF. You need to have the latest version, because older ones don't work with the latest bits. On http://msdn.microsoft.com/winfx/ , click Get the Beta . You need at least, the WinFX Runtime Components along with the Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows WF. Of course, for the latest item

One of its screens allows the user to run a different executable, which the code currently does by CreateProcess. The problem is that since the first process is running as admin, CreateProcess has the second process run as admin also. This is undesirable because it is a security breac

- Hi folks. Do you guys have any best practices for testing Especially around automated testing
As I understand it, since Cardspace uses the secure desktop, and since you can't disable that, the Cardspace UI can't be scripted (good thing) and therefore can't be used in automated testing (bad thing). Do you have any ideas about how to work around this
Cheers
