VFOX9 included most of the SQL command.....

So when writing a program, should we use the VFOX command or
use as much as the SQL command and Why should we choose between the two

It is your choice. I prefer to use SQL-Select whenever possible because it is generally shorter, easier, simpler. It may not always be the fastest or most powerful, so you have the excellent choice of using XBase instead when you want or need (e.g. to process record by record on a returned set, with SCAN..ENDSCAN and XBase instructions).

Another advantage of using SQL is that it helps you set up a 2-Tier (or N-Tier) architecture and helps you when migrating to a dedicated back-end (such as SQL Server) if you have a need or requirement in the future.

SQL is set based, so it is the best choice when you need to return a set of records. To find a sing record and process it I generally use xBase commands because they are faster.
