    - Passing SQL SELECT parameters to FORM/Listbox Prefer SQL rowsourcetype (3) instead of alias. Init codes are ran in the order "innermost object first, outermost object last". Thus form.init is the last in the sequence. However solution is very simple. Do not set listbox's rowsourcetype and rowsource neither in PEM sheet nor in its init (leave at their default). In form init or whereever you have the needed parameters are ready, set them. ie: In form init: with this.lstSomeListbox .RowSourceType = 3 .RowSource = "select * from myTable where myField = thisform.anum into cursor crsListSource" endwith Whenever anum changes you just requery listbox ( thisform.lstSomeListBox.requery() ).     - uniqueness of index <insert index name> is violated. As Dan told you, the issue is that records are not removed until you physically PACK the table (See PACK vcmmand in Help for a detailed explanation). Since you have a restricted index (either Candidate or Primary) one solution is to add a filter to the index condition as "FOR NOT DELETED()". This is not normally recommended in an application environment (filtered indexes are not optimizable and reduce performance), but for data cleansing it may be acceptable. The DELETED() function returns a boolean TRUE if the record is flagged for deletion - so the index will exclude all such records and you won't get this error. Tag: Copy to delimited

The whole purpose of FLUSH is to force the operating system to clear its buffers, not VFP! >> What is the usual paradigm You should only use flush to ensure that the operating system clears any cached data - but this has always been a very flakey area in Windows (the caching system is really intended for files and like so many of Microsoft's tools does not handle data well) - so in VFP 9.0 the keyword "FORCE" was added to VFP. This now calls the windows API to force Windows to clear any cached data and write it immediately to disk. (It is worth noting that one the first things that SQL Server does when it is installed is to disable Windows caching!) >> Can I forget flush Yes, unless you have a specific problem with data not being cleared from the Operating System's cache.     - Performace issues over VPN / Terminal services. Aleniko Maybe you are looking at this the wrong way. I use Terminal Services along with everyone in my organization and we have no such problems. What we do is that we store our data on the server as well as the executable application . We log into a TS session and then run the app within it. The app runs on the server and accesses data on the server which is like running the app and accessing the data locally. Thus the data access is as fast as if you had the installation on your local computer. Another advantage of this is that only one copy of the executable exists, temp cursors are created in each user's temp directory so when an update is needed, only one copy needs to be updated. You need to get away from the idea that only data is stored on the server and you run the executable locally and access that data. Both data and exe should be located remotely on the server. IMHO while client/server is great, in your case there is no need to go that way. Running a VFP app this way is very fast, and you will get the same speed of data access whether you use DSL or even dialup since only screen changes come down to your computer. Anytime you want to bring huge files down to your computer that is going to be slow. Tag: Copy to delimited

    - Why my VFP exe file cannot be launched? Do you mean those vfp6*.dll files They are under my c:\windows\system32 folder. I also had a copy under the program folder I mentioned. The thing is the folder had been working well for years until last weekend. It happens to another similar folder on the server. I doubt something is wrong with VFP engine. Thank you for your answer. However with the latest or older your operation is suspicious enough already. Since you didn't give any details just guessing what might have happened: 1) where recno <= 0. A suspicious where clause. Probably you really have a field called recno, I don't know. If it's really there then this is likely to return a series of records and that would be your real intention. 2) You seem to be trying to set recordnumber 1...N sequentially in the retrieved set. So far so good. However there is no clue that recordnumber fields already contain any unique values outside the range of your update. ie: They might be already: 0,0,0.... or: 1,2,3,...20 In each case there is no primary key to follow the updates. Consider first case: It goes and makes a call to update it to 1. Since all are 0 they all match the update situation and are set to 1,1,1,1,... Next step still expects to find a value of 0 to update but it's gone. IOW just after first update() all set is updated to 1,1,.... It should update a single record but it updated N records. In the latter case situation is not much different. Your set is unique, however you can't be sure that other existing records collide with those values or not. Say existing data do not have 1,2,3 but has 4 (outside the set you selected to update). 1,2,3 updates and 4 causes the error (actually it causes error before that, as soon as 1 is updated to 2, there are now two 2 to update in next try). In summary since ADO doesn't follow the positioning via some sort of physical location, it has to do that via key fields that it can use. Solution is to include your key field in select.
