We have a couple of foxpro applications running on network drives. They have been running trouble free for the past few years. Since lately, when certain users, click on the short cut to run these application, from their desk tops, their work stations immediately reboots. No error messages, it does not freeze or any thing. The machine simply restartsĄit is just as if someone powered on the machine

The short cut does not use any UNC references to the applications. This doesn't seem to happen to users running W2K as their OS, mainly XP. Our network is a Novell network. We are running Novell Client for Windows 4.91 SP29 Version 4.91.2.20051209 on all workstations

This is the contents of the application folder

msvcr70.11

vfp7renu.dll

vfp7r.dll

foxuser.dbf

application.exe

foxuser.fpt

Any suggest or solutions are welcome...I am at my wits end !!!

Years ago I had a similar problem with Novell and the issue was resolved by doing an explicit purge of deleted files on Novell (and probably deleting any leftover temp files would help).

You may run tests w/o VFP in between reading/writing large files to Novell.

How do you do a "explicit purge of deleted files" on Novell

There is a purge coommand (and a Salvage command for the reverse - like pack and recall of VFP or emptying/restoring the recycle bin).
