Combobox too short, no show of element

I had a combobox that was shorter than some elements in the list. The longest of them did not show in the box at all. I had to lengthen the combobox in order to show this longest element. Is this a know glitch

I wanted to add that I did some further tests, and while the field (element ) in this record showed up once, the next time I tried, it did not. So I shortened the text in the field, and, lo and behold, now it shows up every time. The field was set to 80 characters, and the original text was only 76. So what is this all about (I even deleted the record and recreated it, and I had the same problem until I shortened the text.)

The problem is unclear, but are you talking about a combobox in a grid Or is this combobox on a form

Combobox in a form. I have tried now to increase the size of the field with the same text length, increase the width of the combobox with the same length of the text, deleting and recreating the combobox and deleting and recreating the RowSource dbf. No change. The only thing that helps is to shorten the text. Very strange, indeed.

Try to play with ColumnWidths property of the combobox.

A combo box displays whatever is defined in the first column of the rowsource when closed, and whatever is defined by the ColumnCount and ColumnWidths properties when opened. So if your combo is set up like this:

rowsource = table.field1, field2, field3

You will only ever see "field1" when it is closed. To see fields1 and 2 (but not 3) in the dropdown, set ColumnCount = 3, ColumnWidths = "70,90,0"

Oy, do I feel smart now. The ControlSource field was set to 60, so nothing above showed up in the ComboBox. My defense is that I did not dawn on me that this would do nothing but cut off the text in the Combobox at 60 characters.
