Hi everybody,

I found that if you open a report, go to File\Page Setup\Printer Setup\Properties and then change Print Quality (say, to economode or 300 dpi instead of default 600 dpi, this setting is preserved while the report is opened in design-mode, but when I save the report and re-check these properties, they are back to default.

Note, that the rest of the properties such as tray, are preserved.

This behavior is independant on Printer Environment checked/unchecked.

Can you run the similar test in your system in VFP9, please Why do you think it happens

Thanks a lot in advance.

I did a quick report and it's all working for me as expected: PRINTQUALITY is correctly set in the Expr field of the report, PRTINFO(8) is reporting correctly from within the context of the report. I would imagine, though, that this could vary with printer drivers.

Stuart,

Thanks a lot for your test. Just to be sure - you followed the exact path I outlined in my first message in VFP9 and these settings were preserved after you closed the report and re-opened it, correct

What was the PrintQuality value after you changed this value

So, does it also mean, what we can try to manipulate the PrintQuality value programmatically in the report definition to achieve "draft" printing

Thanks a lot again for your response, I'll mark it as an answer after you can clarify my additional questions.

Thanks in advance.

I created a report, with one field showing PRTINFO(8). Print preview showed the default value of 600 (dpi). I then used the report's page setup dialog to set the my printer to 300 DPI, and previewed the report: now it shows 300. I saved and closed the report, USEd it as a table, and checked the expr field in the first row, and it showed a value of 300 for printquality as expected. This value was only saved, though, when "Save Printer Information" was checked in the report.

Thanks a lot again. So it does work as expected in VFP9 and perhaps it's a VFP8 report bug since in VFP8 these particular settings are not saved.

Thanks again.
