We have a widely-distributed application written in VFP6. We are contemplating migrating to VFP 9. We're using SP2. During testing we have encountered an error which we can't get around. The same code runs fine under VFP 6 as well as in the development environment. We use this for debugging.

When using a table with +/- 1000 records and then BROWSEing that table, VFP throws a Fatal error: Exception code = C0000005 upon closing the browse window. The behavior does not occur every time and it occurs both when browsing on the desktop or in a window. The error seems to occur less frequently with smaller tables. It always occurs with the sequence browse, close browse window, browse again, close the browse window a second time. It occurs whether the browse is interactive when entered on a dummied command line or whether the USE and BROWSE commands are coded.

Is there something about the VFP9 environment of which we should be aware or is this a bug which should be reported Has anyone else encountered similar behavior

SP2 is not yet released. You should not be using it in production. Use SP1 for VFP9. The browse problem was already reported and I think the latest CTP SP2 should fix it.

Anyway, you may have to re-install VFP9 with SP1 from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx familyid=1c06e35d-10a2-4a05-84fc-495b3a73ecf7&displaylang=en now.

Thanks for your incredibly rapid response. We are not yet using VFP9 in production. FYI, the version on our SP2 is 4611.
