    - REPLACE command help wanted If not mastering counter intuitive VFP object manipulation was not hard enough in the past until I finally got a handle of it, now trying to do it from OleDb .NET code is like moving through heavy water--it is 10 times more difficult. I thought I reached the promised land when I finally made PACK work but my joy was premature. Now INSERT gives me the same trouble. I really prefer to do REPLACE (as well as other commands) by writing a SP where the commands are located and storing them permanently at the DBs. That would be my preferred choice. t would allow me to reuse some of my old code which contains thousands such commands. I hoped that I would be able to write a simple SP and call some of my old .prg files from it. This is what Cetin has said should work. I now kind of doubt this although I haven't tried it yet. OK, this is one SP that gives me exceptions. My next attempt (and my next preferred choice) is Cetin/Naomi's execScript idea. It always gives me "Syntax Error" exception even in C# code at runtime. This code obviously a very poor choice since the delimiter ' (single quote mark) can and eventually will appear as a part of the memo text itself. I just wanted to prove the principle. It did not work either. I also tried FOR instead of WHILE. Actually the numeric_id field is the primary key and it does not matter. There should be only one record. I think most of it RTF formatting. I typed in a few characters mindlessly. I think they are the ones highlighted. This is where I stand. I you want to get rid of me, please help me resolve my few remaining problems and I will be out of here, hopefully for good If no way around the problem is found then my default option would be to use the following sequence of commands: DELETE the sought for record (it has worked), PACK the Table (works), INSERT a similar record (it has worked as a stand alone operation) with a new MEMO field but all the other field contents saved and reloaded. That may not work either. I noticed that OleDb does not seem to like when I do DELETE , PACK and INSERT immediately after that. It wants the app to be closed first but I haven't studied it in detail.     - insufficient memory - foxpro I have an application I have used every year to do the scheduling for our non-profit youth basketball league and it is not working this year. WHen I execute the application I get the message Microsoft Visual Foxpro Insufficient Memory!     - converting old fox 2.6 reports to vfp6 errors... I know this goes a long ways back but does anyone know why would some of my old reports not convert to the new version. Some do but most don't.     - Passing SQL SELECT parameters to FORM/Listbox I have a form with a listbox, I have changed the source on the listbox to a SQL SELECT, in the form of SELECT * FROM DBF INTO CURSOR myform WHERE anum=thisform.anum thisform.anum is passed from the calling program as a parameter and is initialized in form.init, yet apparently the sql select statement is called prior to the form.init (why ) and thisform.anum has an invalid value.     - Upgrading V6 app to V9 gives strange Windows Phenomena Hi there... I'm just trying to solve this little annoying Gotcha & would appreciate help from experienced problem solvers. Old V6 code creating my data input windows, now blanks when I bring my mouse across it, then have to "hunt in the dark" for event buttons (Add, Goto, Exit, etc) which then appear when mouse is over them. Then only about half the window appears. Truly weird. Really simple x-base style code in the begining, after a number of db are opened, windows, popups, indexes being defined. Also declaring a few dozen vars. Is there some special V9 var I should be declaring to prevent or augment something Jeez. Would be a bummer and dangerous to start re-coding the app. Have switched to visual9 due to poor memory performance of my original V6 exe on xpro, vista.     - Grid class I have made my own grid base class with 9 columns. When I create a grid based on this class, and I try to reduce the number of columns, I get an error message saying "Member COLUMN# is a class member" (# being the umber just above the one to which I want to change; if I want to go from 9 to 7, # = 8).     - uniqueness of index <insert index name> is violated. Hi, i'm making batch changes to several of our foxpro databases using C# and ado.net. Basically i am consolidating many lookups into the same key across multiple databases. After moving them to the proper id and deleting unused id's, i go and find out from all of the databases what lookups they have, compile them into a uniquelist and then make sure that every database has that row. My problem is that once my consolidation happens and it deletes unused rows, i'm trying to add rows that use to be there back in because they're part of my 'master list' and i need them even though they aren't being used... i then get this error even though the record has been deleted already. example id 9060 was not being used, i first go through and delete all codes that aren't being used in related tables (to clear out all of the junk --and unfortunately in some cases codes i need to keep around as well) 9060 was deleted I consolidate all of the codes i go to my master list and try to add 9060 again with it's proper description (one that matches the master list), and i get the uniqueness error. Now, i could go back and rewrite the whole architecture of my software to support this 'bug ' but i'm hoping someone knows a way to rebuild the indexes programmatically (in ado.net) so i don't have to.     - What fires first Init() or Load() Does the Init() procedure of a form, fire before the Load() procedure of the form. I am trying to use a SQL Select in the Load() of a form with a passed form property from a ComboList box [a value set within it's Init()]. I had hoped to initialize the passed property before the Forms Load() event and its SELECT-SQL ran, then optionally let the user select different values in the ComboList box and then have it call the Load() event when the user changes the selection.     - VFP7 crashes with "Fatal error: Exception code=C0000005" during data import from Excel I'm using the following statements for reading from a multiple-sheet Excel file: CREATE CURSOR Main (ID N(3,0), SUBID N(3,0), DESC C(60), D C(128), E C(10), F C(10), G C(10), H C(10), I C(10), J C(10), K C(10), L C(10), M C(10), N C(10), O C(10), P C(10), Q C(10) ) APPEND FROM (cFile) TYPE XL5 SHEET "cSheet_n" with cSheet_n = sheet names of the current spreadsheet. The tables had been saved as Excel5.0 workbooks. Typically 100 rows are being read per sheet, typically 5 to 10 sheet per file in total. If the table is somewhat larger or contains more commenting text within the columns E (from which I read 10 chars only), the procedure tends to crash, but astonishingly this isn'z really reproducible (sometimes on the 1st sheet, sometimes on the 4th only)! I tried out with XL8 instead of XL5 -> no difference. If I replaced all formula in the sheet by the values, it behaved better, but not clearly stable (still crashing sometimes).     - Outlook contact details This might not be the right forum for this question given that it mainly concerns Outlook (although I am accessing it from VFP), but I am hoping that one of you smart and helpful people may know the answer ... I am trying to obtain to populate a VFP table with the details that I can see in my Outlook 2002 address book. I have had some success at obtaining details such as Name, Email Address and Type via the AddressEntry objects in the "Global Address List" AddressList object. But there are numerous other details which I can see in the Outlook Address book but which I have been unable to obtain programatically: First Name, Last Name and Address (on the General tab); various phone/fax numbers (on the Phone/Notes tab) and numerous email addresses (on the E-mail Addresses tab). I want to change the class library for all the objects (in all forms in my project).     - ODBC Driver I'd best start this thread by admitting I know less than nothing about FoxPro so dummy answers would be appreciated. I have a customer who is connecting software I have written to a foxpro database via ODBC. The customer has created a System DSN using the Microsoft Visual Foxpro Driver v6.00.8167 that points to a "free table directory". My software simply runs a query on a table (Details.dbf). The software works fine until the number of records hits 10K+. At this stage each single query (which only returns one record) takes at least 5 seconds to execute. At first thought I figured the peformance was down to a lack of indexes on the table. They have since added several indexes with no improvement in performance. My suspicion is that the ODBC driver is not using the indexes.     - Performace issues over VPN / Terminal services. Hi everyone; I have tried today to connect via VPN over DSL lines to a remote system and run my VFP application. Perfomance sucked big time, but I wasn't surprised. Using remote desktop to the win2003 server is very fast for obvious reasons.     - Visual Foxpro Grid is hiding something from me :( ok ! I have a form with a pageframe and two pages. i have a grid on page 1 for sales_items. i have two MySql tables 'sales' and 'sales_items'. i have set the allowaddnew property of the grid to .T. . try to add a new record to the grid and save it (it works fine) now on the grid press the down arrow more than 4 times so that it will look like ur adding more than 4 new records, and then run the update on both tables and walah ! the grid loses its data, but if you browse the table using a button or something, you will see that the data is actually still there but the grid wont show it. here is a sample of how i requery my child table.     - Why my VFP exe file cannot be launched? I complied my program under VFP6 into an exe file in the program folder. But it cannot be launched. I believe there is nothing wrong with the code, because I just made a minor change. The funny thing is that if I copied the file to other folders on the same drive, it works! And even more wear is that some old version VFP exe files could not be launched from within that program folder, either. I have to copy them out to test. It only happens to VFP exe files. My computer died. Reload OS. I have one FoxPro program, used for over 7 years. and still have the database - reinstalling the OS only affected the boot WINDOWS partition. But the FoxPro program, which I can access, will not run - cannot find a required DLL. Where do I go for help in this kind of situation.

I am sorry to ask such on FoxPro 9, but where else is there
