I am using Vista Premium on a brand new Dell computer and I ran the Reliability and Performance Monitor. The following messages appeared:

A device has a configuration problem that prevents it from working properly. The device, Microsoft Tun Miniport Adaptor, is reporting "tv_ConfigMgrErr19". This device will not be available untill the issue is resolved. The Plug and Play ID for this device is 5.

A second error message is the same as the first except it ends with: The Plug and Play ID for this device is ROOT\*TUNMP\0000

I can't really find anything on the internet about this problem.

My computer basically seems to be running fine except the Program Updates gave me a Error# -5 before it ran and Roxio Creator DE is not working at all.

Any ideas

If Vista came pre-installed on your new Dell, the support team at Dell should be familiar with the image that they installed on your computer and should able to troubleshoot the issue with you. They might have something within their knowledgebase on this particular error message.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Thanks to the other person that suggested that I phone Dell. I did and they walked me throught the following process (keep in mind that my memory is a little faulty). Unplug the computer from the internet, restart the computer, hit F8 many times while the computer is rebooting, choose 'repare computer', then choose the last option 'Restore from an image', the other steps are easy to follow. This will erase all of your data, and you will have to load all of your programs again, which took me 6 hours, but the problem was solved.

I have a Dell but do not plan to follow the route that Thisorthat did. My question is other than the message continuing to appear and be annoying is their anything to worry about or has anyone found a better way to stop.

I do not have a Dell, but have the same problem, (Microsoft Tun Miniport Adapter reporting 'tv_Config.MgrErr19'). Nor do I have an image from which I can reload, having used a retail version of Vista Ultimate to install Vista on my computer.

How can I get rid of this error which appears not only when I do a system health report but also may appear under 'Network Adaptors' where I have an exclamation mark against "Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem with a HP notebook. I've tryed trouble shooting the problem on the net, no one seems to be able to help short of reinstalling the image from disk.

I've contacted HP and they have confirmed that it is a software issue but have no clue other than that and told me to perform a recovery and reinstall the OS, don't really want to go that route if i can help it. Someone must be able to help, a responce from microsft would be nice.

I'm running vista home premium and the driver in question is up to date.

Can someone please help with this error

Thanks

After reading that I must reinstall the Microsoft O/S to remove this "failure using the VxD loader" error, code "tv_ConfigMgrError19", which apparently has occurred on both pre-installed Vista and otherwise, I am not willing to spend many happy hours fixing this software problem.

For my Acer Aspire T-180 desktop running MS Windows Vista Basic, I have had this error on the Microsoft Tun miniport adapter and on the Teredo tunneling pseudo-interface since I first used the Reliability and Performance Monitor. It has not caused me any problems, as far as I can tell. If this is a generally harmless bug in Vista, why doesn't someone at Microsoft just say so or do we have to wait for the next O/S version for resolution

Perhaps someone could explain what a "Tun miniport adapter" does....and how this error could impact the software performance.

Thanks.
