I'm bemused why something so basic works in Word but not in Excel.

I have a custom version of Workbook_BeforeSave, one that assists the user to specify a SharePoint path, should that be their wish. The full file name (path + name) is then provided to the SaveAs dialog, thus:

Code Snippet

Application.Dialogs(xlDialogSaveAs).Show sFullName ' sFullName is both path and name

If no path is specified, the SaveAs dialog shows my derived file name (as expected). If the path is an ordinary file system path, such as C:\Temp, then the Save As uses that as the selected folder and still presents the file name for user modification. All this is as it should be, but if the path is a Web address (e.g. http://My%20Web%20Site/Files/) then the dialog gives up and doesn't default the folder, nor show the file name.

As I said at the beginning of this post, the frustrating thing is that similar code in Word's SaveAs dialog works perfectly.

Is there another way to do this
