    - Problen reading Cell I believe the problem is the use of the Val function which takes a string argument. VAL reads the argument from left to right and stops at the first non-numeric character. Apparently this function does not consider your regional settings and kicks out at the comma.     - Bloomberg + Execel = True? Hi there, DDE connections works by allowing two programs to talk to each other in a client/server approach. You could picture it like a browser (client) and a web site (server). The browser requests the page from the server which send the web page back to the browser who displays it. Without the server the browser can't get the page. DDE works in a similar way except both the client and server are applications and its not only data thats past but also commands.     - ApplyCustomType question I'm running Office XP with current updates, and I'm observing some peculiar behavior when I try to use ActiveChart.ApplyCustomType in Visual Basic. The FIRST time I run my Macro after opening Excel, none of the code after: ActiveChart.ApplyCustomType xlUserDefined, "name" executes. After the first time I run the macro, the VBA Project (XLUSRGAL.XLS) appears in the "Project" window of the Editor, though none of the custom charts I've placed in that file are listed. After this the macro runs perfectly every time, until the next time I close and open Excel. The macro also runs correctly the first time if I open XLUSRGALS.XLS in another window BEFORE I run the macro. I see identical behavior when I use xlAnyGallery and xlBuiltIn (replacing XLUSRGALS.XLS with XL8GALRY.XLS). It doesn't make any difference which of the user-defined or built-in custom charts I call. It would be possible if your parameter referenced a valid location (e.g.: Forms!YourForm!YourTextbox), but it does not seem to be the case. Although the posting is centered on processing delays, I also explained some of how Cab collection and processing works. Basically we set up collection rules for mapped files, but if an event existed for a new mapping rule the collection status may not get updated right away (or at all in some cases). This is where you would see ‘no cabs available’ in the system. We are working to improve this experience in our future service updates to better update existing event rules for data collection based on file mapping.     - Message for display during macro execution I tried the userform route again without any luck. I added a userform called UserForm2 and placed a captioned label and a command button on it. Alternatively if the user clicks the command button on UserForm2, I want execution of theMacro() to halt completely and have all UserForms dissapear off the screen.     - Upgrade problem Access 97 and Access 2003 on same machine Hi We have finally started to upgrade to Office 2003, I still have a copy of Access 97 on my machine to maintain databases which cannot be upgraded until the roll out is finished. The idea behind WER is to improve the software ecosystem by offering a service that can report, analyze (either automatically using debugger automation or manually), and close the loop with a response for a fix if appropriate. Early development scenarios are very interesting since this is prevention and enables the ecosystem to improve without user impact. It is the most cost effective to fix issues early in development. The reactive scenarios (crashes happening in release code) will always exist though, and it is good to think about these scenarios as well when we think about features. Claus, I envision that the CER request (or the new 'client') is more along the lines of redirect and auto-process so the volumes of issues (maybe by function within the file) are clear. Maybe bring this into the IDE Clearly we (Microsoft) need to provide a solution for developers to locally redirect and access crash dumps in early development! Fixing documentation is known and planned and code samples are being discussed. What about new features in the WER client or the WER Service Think about what is hard to do right now around fixing WER crashes, and distribution of the fix. Is it easy enough to set up a symbol server How about tracking the effectiveness of the fix There are endless service aspects, and lots of interesting client scenarios that could enable folks to more easily identify problems in released code, prioritize those fixes, release, and notify users of the availability (and how to install) the fix. I was working on another problem and reset my advanced options. After all my jpeg and gifs now are fuzzy when displaying in only internet explorer 7.0.5730.11 all other programs display normal.

You might try checking the zoom level you have set in the bottom right of the status bar of IE. See if setting to 100% fixes the issue.

I've been seeing some of the same issues with specific laptop configurations using only IE7. Also the zoom level has no affect worse or better for the problem.

There are two solutions to this problem.

1. Adjust the DPI back to the standard settings.

--> Right-click your desktop and go to Properties

--> Click on the settings tab

--> Click on advanced

--> Change the DPI setting back to "Normal"

2. Edit the registry.

--> Go to Start, Run

--> Type regedit and click OK

--> search for "UseHR"

--> Adjust the value from 1 to 0

Depending upon whether or not you want to use the High Res DPI scaling or not do one of the two options. This link descibes it in a little more detail.
