I have just installed Live Communications Server 2005 Standard . I have a seperate server as a Domain Controller.

When I followed all the steps during installation, no errors show up. Also, the HTML log files only display green 'success' items. However, when I activate server the HTML log files show me this error 0x80072030 There is no such object on the server., and i can¡¯t activate the server. Also, when I open the Live Communications Server Management Console, I only see an empty screen and no 'tree-view' of possibilities.

Thanks in advance for help.

Hi Nard8102,

follow the rules man

Activating the Standard Edition Server ordinarily requires Domain Admins or equivalent credentials. You can allow an administrator who is not a member of the Domain Admins group to activate a server by:

1. Setting access control entries (ACEs) on particular objects before the installation of the server.

2. Granting the rights to install the server to this administrator¡¯s account.

The following permissions are required to run activation:

¡¤ Permissions on the local computer, which are granted with local administrator credentials.

¡¤ Permissions on the Live Communications Server Active Directory objects. This requires RTCDomainServerAdmins credentials.

¡¤ Permissions on the domain service account.

¡¤ Permissions on the Computer object.

¡¤ Permissions to modify membership in the RTCHSDomainServices group.

¡¤ Permissions to modify membership in the Domain Users group.

Therefore, to grant a user these permissions, perform the following tasks:

¡¤ Add the user account to the RTCDomainServerAdmins groups.

¡¤ Grant the user account permissions to edit a service account.

¡¤ Grant the user account rights on the Computer object.

Grant the user rights to modify membership in the RTCHSDomainsServices group

Hi Maduna,

If you had tried my previous post and still have errors, then might be the error is due to communication between DC and LCS server. Try to use NCDIAG and DCDIAG, and search the failed queries.

Second Question: People are not able to see the interface of LCS or OCS after successfull installation, is that the OCS or LCS server is not properlt registered with AD schema. do not worry about this, there is a work around o this.

Follow the steps:

1. open the MMC by typing MMC on RUN

2. click afile and then click add remove snap-in

3. add the LCS or OCS snap-in in open windows

4. OK all buttons

5. you are now are able to see your Server interface, save the console wherever you want for easy accessiblility

Good bye,

Jugal
