    - Configuration Failed Hi. I'm also getting this error while trying to fix SharePoint Portal 2007. A little background about what I did: 1) I wanted to uninstall SharePoint from a web site (or webapplication, whatever) 2) I clicked it and immediately realized i was uninstalling from the Administration Page rather than from the other site i wanted. 3) It was too late. 4) I tried running the SharePoint products and Technologies Configuration Wizard to fix it. Several attempts did not seem to make any difference 5) I un-installed the admin page from my 2 web front ends, and also from my Job/Index server 6) I then deleted the IIS SharePoint v3 admin page and the corresponding folder (after backing it up) 7) I tried running SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard again. 8) It runs through most of it and then failes with that error message. I'm running SharePoint Portal 2007 on Microsoft Windows 2003. Tag: VBA Language Definition

    - Communicator Mobile 2005 and TLS (Using port 4443 possible?) More options Confused on something with CM and CWA: We have web access enabled/installed, it uses MTLS and certificates on port 4443 to access the site... I'm assuming when using Communicator Mobile on Windows Mobile 2005, I specify TLS to connect remotely to the server (no vpn)..     - VBA in Excel - organizing charts as objects in a sheet I am using a macro to create multiple charts from data on a separate sheet in the Excel file. However, the program places each new chart on top of the previous one in the sheet I select. I would like to place these charts apart on the sheet so that they are viewable. 1) Is there an command to order the charts down and across the sheet 2) Alternatively, can I select and move each sheet without using the actual object name in the while loop, "Chart1," for example. 3) Specifiying the object name would only work for the first chart.     - Collection Item: Parent / NextItem Hi, I am struggling with classes. This is what I want to do, in VBA (test it in Excel please): I want to add a property/function to my class, named NextItem and PreviousItem. These return the next and previous items in the collection. I have several separate collections where I keep my items in. So if I want to determine the next and previous item, I need to figure out in which collection the item resides before I can start to loop through that collection. Unfortunately there is no collection.item.parent. That is what I need to simulate I thought about adding a property ParentCollection to the class, but how can I use that property as a pointer to a collection and retrieve the collection from that pointer.     - Updating column totals in sub forms This has to be simpler than I'm making it! Trying to maintain column ototals ni SubForm, and update them to the MainForm. Typical Northwind-type Orders-&-Details relationship: I extend row totals in the OrderDetails subform; and show OrderTotal (column total) in the SubForm's FormFooter. So far, so good. But when I change a quantity or price in the subform, I'd expect the subtotal to change automatically, no It does not; and I don't know whether I need to code a "Change" event myself, to modify that total whenever a single cell changes; and whether I must loop through the rows, or if there's a nifty group-operator in Access to do the columnTotal for me. (I'm a VB programmer, reluctantly roped into writing an Access form.) Finally, when I leave the Main Record (i.e., parent of the rows in the subForm), I want to store the updated suptotals in the Main/Parent record. (I know, I know, it's not kosher, but they pay me to do this stuff. -- Besides, it records what has been billed as it was billed; not as it's been updated since.)     - Projects, objects & modules Thanks a lot for the explanations. I assume the term "class" in this context is analagous to the term when used in the contaext of C++ or Java. The link you provided looks perfect at first glance. It also led me to the whole MVP world, which I am sure to make a lot of use of. I still believe one of the best ways to learn a language is to get hold of lots of basic practical examples that are presented in their ENTIRETYand play around with them. Technical explanations are important but only go so far. Could you possibly expand on what you meant by the following (particularly underlined sections); "ThisDocument is a special class referencing the document within the project. The events of the document are exposed in the Thisdocument object." If you have time perhaps you could provide brief examples. I may not understand them, but who knows where it will take me. To start learning I Googled for basic tutorials and found; http://users.bigpond.net.au/gradley/vbatutor/ This was not a bad start. It was the best intro I could find. I found many others, but people who can write code AND explain what they are doing to newbies are rare in my experience. Simple yet integral steps and concepts in the process of creating and running code are often missed or quickly glossed over in order to get to what the writer finds interesting. One of the biggest problems I find is that writing of the code in isolation is explained well, but how you implement it within the environment and then use it is often not explained clearly enough. I haven't looked into the details of the recovery/restart APIs yet, but I was told that they impose an upper time limit for saving the state of the application. Is that true If so, that might be an issue for us, as our customers often work with data consuming several GB in memory, and saving those data can take an almost arbitrary amount of time. Anyway, the immediate problem I'm trying to solve is to use the WER API to inform the user about the crash, create a crash report, attach minidump data, and send the whole package off to the Winqual site. Prior to your post, I was able to find a work around using the PivotTableWizard method, without using PivotCaches or specifying a range for the input data, using the following code: ActiveSheet.PivotTableWizard TableDestination:=Range("Sheet1!A3"), TableName:="PivotTable1" From what I can tell, this code appears to use whatever data is bounded by the active sheet as a default, thereby emulating the CurrentRegion property. I'm not sure what it's implications are with regard to PivotCaches. Hi, just a quick question

Does there exist anywhere a formal definition of the VBA language It would be really useful for my dissertation as i am writing a program that interprets macros so could do with something that would tell me, for example all the different ways that variables can be defined, or all the different types of statement that can be used etc.

Any advice is much appreciated

Are you looking for information on VBA with the older versions of Office, or the brand new "VBA" which is basically just .NET code running under the MSO mechanism Which one are you working with If you're working in VB6, this unfortunately isn't the right forum for support.

You're right its not easy. Im only really looking to interpret the more basic statements but i still find myself constantly thinking of new ways that things could be written and hoped there was some kind of language definition to help me out. For example, when working on my variable declaration handler, it originally was initialised when it came across the 'Dim' keyword, then i remembered a variable might be initialised with 'const'... then realised those could be public or private etc etc etc. An official definition would help i think
