    - Fine-tuning VBA code Dear all, I hope someone is able to help me with this one. I'm using Excel 2007 to import large text files using VBA code. In the text file I'll tell you a bit more about in a moment, the the first column of numbers are longitude, the second latitude and from there on, data point values. The first problem is that when a very small number is encountered (e.g. 4.2321E-02) in the text file, upon import to Excel, the 'number' is imported into the correct cell, yet the E-02 is put into the adjacent cell, causing the number to be split up - this also causes subsequent values to be shifted one cell further along than they should be. I was wondering therefore if there's a way of keeping the E-02 attached to the end of the number. I've noticed that in the text file sometimes there is a space between the number and the E-x part (most often for the latitude and longitude values) with often no space for the data point values. Any suggestions are of course welcome on how to get round this! The second problem is a bit of an odd one. Upon import of the data, the final cell of each row and positions in the dataset where there is meant to be no value (ie. a blank cell), a question mark in a box appears (this doesn't appear in the text file). I'm wondering whether this is meant to be some kind of carriage-return marker or something akin to this. Anyway, I thought it would be easy to remove, just using find and replace to make the cell blank once more - however, as this isn't a text character, it won't let me copy and paste it into the find/replace box. So I'm a little confused how to get rid of this. Each text file is around 300MB (told you it was a large import!), so I've uploaded a smaller sample one to www.megaupload.com in case you need to have a look - it's still quite big mind you.     - populate text box with combo box selection then be able to edit the text box Here is my problem. I have a combo box that contains a list of all of the road names in my city. I have the code that places whatever my selection is in the combo box into a text box.     - Problem saving to spreadsheet with Macros in 1 column I am displaying info in a DataGridView from a spreadsheet that is then altered using buttons by the user. The spareadsheet is then saved back to the spreadsheet using another button. All this is working fine - no probs. Problem is that there is a Macro in all of the cells in 1 column that keeps a running total by using the cell comment to store a value to stop circular reference problems. The info saves back into this cell from VB but the macro seems to not work properly in that only the last value saved it shown.     - Multi-column List Box with data not from excel spreadsheet Hi, I am trying to create a multi-column list box with data that is NOT from an excel spreadsheet. For example, I would want to make a 2 column list box with someone's last name next to their first name: Smith Joe Baker Jeff Jones Bob etc. I want them in two columns but i want to be able to select a single person by selecting a row, ie so that the last and first name are considered a single unit.     - this problem is also troubling me now!! :( Hello everybody, I am getting some trouble around SharePoint Object model. I was intended to write a console or windows application that will connect two SharePoint site (One is SharePoint 2003 and the other is SharePoint 2007) and will move/copy documents from one to another. I have tried to connect to the SharePoint 2007 first and it was connecting fine. (I was running my application into the same machine where the SharePoint 2007 is installed). The application was retrieving the Document from the SharePoint 2007 as expected but the trouble raised when it was trying to connect with the SharePoint 2003. The error was The Web Application at could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application. Then I was running the application from the machine where the SharePoint 2003 installed and here it was connecting to WSS 2003 fine but failed to connect to WSS 2007. Here the error is different then the earlier. The server instance specified was not found. Please specify the server's address and port. I have searched the web for this error and found a support article in MSDN. But I have not found any good by following the approach that the article specified. Can any body help me to get rid of this trouble One more thing, Can you help me to find out the answer for the following question, Is it possible to connect to a SharePoint site and retrieve a document from a machine where the SharePoint is not installed by using the SharePoint object model Advance Thanks for all kind of suggestions Tag: VBA 6.5 New Version?

    - Office Communicator 2005 sign-in name, auto populate after install somehow? Does anyone know of a way to have the sign in name in communicator, auto filled in after an install or doing the install.. Basically every user has the same format.. first.lastname@domain for the login. I'd prefer to find a way to have this info auto entered after the install when it first tries to open. I'll be using communicator as a "broadcast" method.. and alot of users probably wont take the time to enter their info when I have it set to auto start/connect on windows start up. I noticed that Shape.ShapeNodes.SetPosition ( index, x, y) helped me to set position of each node. However, no ShapeNodes.GetPosition function exists. Each ShapeNode has a Points property, but the Points property does not return me position of the node no matter what I tried. Can anybody (from Microsoft maybe) tell how to use the Office SDK to get the positions of the control Points of a scribble shape whose type is msoFreeform If this can not be done in Word, can that be done in PowerPoint and Excel instead Tag: VBA 6.5 New Version?

    - Possible to run code after Word closes? Hello, I have a macro that saves the current word document on the users c:\ and then emails it to me. I am aware of the kill function to delete a file, but I would need to close the file first in order to delete it - which can easily be done in the macro. I have loaded Office 2007 and the VBA about screen states version 6.5. Is there any documentation on recent changes to the VBA environment

An older product which includes the VBA environment is not able to launch any VBA macros with Office 2007 installed. The upgrade to VBA 6.5 may be the problem and I would like to find some detailed information on new releases.

You will not find many changes.

One nice improvement is that mouse wheel works in the VBE.

Thank you for the reply. After some additional testing I have determined that the problem is probably not due to the new version of VBA.

Too bad Microsoft is not improving this product very aggressively. There are some significant bugs and other areas where improvements could be made.
