I developed a program quite a few months back and after the update mentioned above it is breaking on an ExecuteNonQuery command to our MySQL db. I know what it is but I don't know how to fix it. The program parses a text file via a FileStream and StreamReader and I can see through the debugger that certain characters are no longer recognized by the system. The two that stop execution are acsii 0174 or R, and ascii 0150 or C. If I look on a line that contains these chars I can see that the square character is in place of them so I know they're not recognized. If I uninstall the update all is well. Apparently, the security update has changed something in the way these chars are interpreted. Anyone

Re: Visual Basic General VB.NET program with KB928365 = kablammo!

I don't think I'm going to get that lucky. For one, this is a Windows Forms app not Web Forms, and we're talking VB.NET, not ASP.NET, or at least no IIS involved. Now if there is a setting somewhere else on the system similar to what that thread implies- I'd like to know, or if I'm missing something I'd like to know. Same behavior, but I don't even have a Web Service Extensions folder in my XP IIS machine.
