    - Storing values from a file permanently so that the file is not necessary once compiled I realize now that I explained it wrong. My array will actually be two dimensions Array(a,b). I want to read each row of data from the file and if column c is 0 for a particular row then the corresponding array value will be 0, but if column c is 1 then the array value will be 1. For example, the first six values in my array using my values above would be: array(0,0) = 0 array(0,1) = 0 array(0,2) = 0 array(0,3) = 0 array(0,4) = 0 array(0,5) = 1 I also provided a shortened format of my file. The actual dimensions of the array would be array(0 to 29, 0 to 24), so there are a lot of possible combinations. I know how to read from the file and assign to an array as described above. My question is actually what the second replier is getting at. The values will not change so I want them to be included in the executable without having to send an extra file to each user.     - How do I set delay between code? I use a loop with a application.doevents in it, pauses the code but leaves the gui active. I do it in milliseconds generally... 1000 milliseconds = 1 second.     - XP/Vista ADOX References I built a large application on XP and a tiny but needed component uses ADOX for table creation and persistance in an Access database. I couldn't build the project on Vista until I deleted the ADOX reference and replaced it because msadox.dll has moved from Windows/System32 to Program Files\Common Files\System\ado. Just FYI, I also have a custom hardware device based on XP Embed that runs a custom app and uses a touchscreen. I allow use of the windows OSK and prevent running other applications using Group Policy. I haven't had complaints of mispressed keys, but screen resolution and touch screen sensitivity may account for that. Since your problem isn't really VB related, you may need to try asking in a Windows API specific forum... Oh, unless the other app that processes your login is also a .NET application - if it is, you may be able to use Reflection to communicate with it instead of the API...     - TXT File to MS Access I like your approach to this problem, but keep in mind that everything before the "=" sign is a header and everything after is the value for each line. Unfortunately, the txt file is not created in a table like format. In other words, for every line you have the header and the value. I guess this is the most difficult part for me to figure out. At runtime the code doesn't care what the engish word is it just wants the value. So a collection would be a better opption at run time... In either case, a really quick way of setting up a vu meter was to make a vertical progress bar, with values min-0 max-100, and set the .value property to the vu 'level'.     - OracleConnection Scope I have a class that creates an oracle connection to a database that is compiled code and works fine. i pass an oracleconnection object back to the calling program and it uses it perfectly, until the code fully runs and it is time fo ruser imput and a form shows. the user does what ever he does then a query is launched that uses the conneciton object again and all of a sudden it is closed.     - Adding data in one column together The sql query, needs to be string value, basically, you need it to read something like this: sQuery = "select sum(winnings) as total from AmountsTable" If you don't assign it to a string variable or a command, then it will read the query as executeable code. Since the method Sum() has not been created and the variable winnings has not been created, you get errors.     - Possible to update a VB 2005 control's 'enabled' property via code while in the IDE environment? The "Enabled" property is treated specially, it's called a shadowed property. The control's designer keeps track of the value itself, and does not pass it on to the control being designed. You wouldn't want the control to actually become disabled at designtime, right Unfortunately, this means that if you want to control the Enabled property's value at designtime, you'll have to create a control designer yourself and make your Mode property a shadowed property. The purpose of this control is, want use in VB. I am able to display the image in VB form, but not able to view the control properly in VB, I mean with all features. Eventhough image size is bigger, control not displaying the scroll bars unless I double click inside the control. Control is not getting focuss unless you double click inside the control. But same control working very well when I try to call from windows forms in dotnet. Also would like to know, how to get the properties displayed in VB. The following code will work, I used a ReadOnly Property but that is as good as a function so you can just copy and paste it into a function if you would like. Second, string manipulation should be done using the String object methods. Using operators such as + or & incurs more overhead because the CLR will create additional unnecessary strings to perform the operation. True, with only two strings you probably can't measure the difference, however, it is better to get into the habit and use Concat() or Format() for short strings so that you don't ever find yourself using Str = Str1 + Str2 + Str3 + Str4 + Str5... Hello all.

I've been working on a project where i need to store the result of a messagebox with Yes/No buttons to a variable for later use. I remember having learned how to do it in class, but that was in November and I have since then forgotten.
