I've used the right-click "find all references" to quickly show find symbol results for objects, subs and functions in my projects. Today it stopped working in the main asp.net solution I'm working on (in other projects, "find all references" works without problem). Everytime I try to search I get "search found no results". If I right click on reserved words, matches are returned but any of my code returns nothing.

The project builds without issue and I can use the regular Find and replace dialog.

Can anyone help

Evidently what caused the problem was adding an existing dll project (one that I created) to my asp.net solution, when I removed it the search started working again.

Weird, I wish I knew why...

ShadeZero,

Thanks very much for providing your solution on the problem. For the reason, I recommend you to read the following thread that shows all the fixed bugs:

VS2005 SP1 Bug Fixes Related to the English WinXP version of VB2005

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx PostID=1404209&SiteId=1

Out of 398 bug fixes in VS2005 SP1, it appears to me that 68 are related to the English WinXP version of VB2005, see below. The ones marked with asterisks (9 of them) are fixes that I think may be relevant to a stand-alone, dataset-based, user interface application I am coding for work. A majority of the VS2005 SP1 bug fixes appear to be for VC++.

Thanks for your reply but I'm not sure how your post is relevant as I have Visual Studio 2005 SP1 installed and irregardless of that, none of the bugs mentioned on the post you linked deal with "find all references" returning no results (there is a mention about it crashing, but that is not happening to me).

Suddenly lost Find/Replace this evening too...

Try C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe /ResetSettings

I installed SP1 and "Find All References" still does not work for Visual Studio 2005, This is a real pain, as I use this all the time. I am not using a web project, and I have tried running the /resetuserdata and /resetsetings switches, but to no avail.
