    - encrypting passwords in a database Hello, I am creating an application using vb windows applcation and using SQL 2005. I have a table of users, that contain there usernames and passwords. When a new user is added it stores all the passwords in clear text in the database. What is the best method to use to be able to crypt the passwords in the database. Also, when the user login, i have a sql statement that will compare the username and password that they enter in the login dialog box, to what is in the database. If the password is encryted, would I still be able to compare their password to see if they can still login. i.e. "Select * From Users Where LoginID=@LoginID And Password=@Password" Many thanks for any suggestions, Steve Tag: IP Address textbox

I have found a print component which more or less does the job (here is the URL, http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vbasic/aa701261.aspx ), but, i have discovered another problem. lets say that i want to print an A4 sized document using forms, using a print component.     - PowerPoint event updating form Hi, I have a class that holds a reference to PowerPoint and captures the WindowChangeEvent. When that event happens that class in turn raises my own custom event to a form. The form has a reference to the class but not a direct reference to PowerPoint. When the form receives the custom event all it needs to do is clear a listbox. I know that the PowerPoint WindowSelectionChange event is being captured and in turn is raising the custom event, however the listbox.items.clear method causes strange behaviour - the listbox isn't cleared, the application doesn't crash, it just doesn't execute that command and exits the sub...so nothing happens. Hi All,

Am new to this group and also am a beginner in .net development. I'v a doubt which i thought would be cleared here as many experts are members of this forum.

My doubt goes here : Am working with a proj in vb.net and c#.I need to have a textbox which gets IP address.Is there a way to use IP Address text box. (text box with "." as separators) is any API available or should i write code.

This might be a basic doubt for many of the members.but am a beginner.so, please help me out

The real easy way. Use the Masked Text Box control with this mask property ###.###.###.### and use the Validation event to confirm that the value entered is a valid IP address.

I ran into this same problem, I tried with ###.###.###.### but it force me to enter
192.168.000.001 for my IP address instead of 192.168.0.1

Is there a more flexible mask option to accept 1 - 3 in between "."

You should be able to type in 192.168.0.1 with this mask "###.###.###.###" and have it validate as correct input. Do you have any other validating code

The only hitch I've noted is that you'll have spaces in the Text value of the control in that you'll need to clear out. You can use the Replace property of the string to do this:
