I apologize if this is not posted to the correct location. I've never really used this sort of service to ask a question...

I am using Visual Studio 2005 Professional. I am developing a web application using VB/asp.net. I am relatively new to .NET, having come from VB 6.

I would like to use the GridView, but cannot seem to access its Smart Tag; I know I could do everything programmatically, but I'm trying to save time.

I think I cannot access the smart tag because I am using Master Pages. Within that master page I have a login view. In my "child" page, inside the content placeholder, I have a gridview control. From the markup text window, I can't seem to figure out how to launch the smart tag functionality. If I click on the design "tab", I just see "LoginView2" all grayed out. I have gone to the master page and switched to showing the LoggedInTemplate, but still, I can't seem to make it work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I feel as if I'm going crazy trying to figure this out... like this is one of those things that shouldn't be difficult and it has to be me making it this way...

Thanks,

Jay :-)

Re: Visual Basic IDE Smart tag unavailable.

I have *lots* of child pages with grids and I can access the smart tag - so it must be something specific with your pages.

Is the problem that you cannot even see the smart tag Or that when you click on it nothing happens
