Is there a way without doing any programming to share list column data between two lists

Goal:
List with 4 Columns: Name, Phone, Birth Day, Email

I want to have another list on another page that displays data from that list but only: Name, Birthday. And use a filter to show the Birthday range of the month we are in

Main Problem:
I can't get the data from the original list to show a limited view of that list on another page.

Any direction you can point me would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi

Instead of creating a new list, Why dont you just create a new view showing only Name, Birthday.

Are you on another page or another site If it is a page, you can just add the list into a web part zone on the page and create another view to repurpose the data.

If you are on a site within the same site collection, you could use the content query webpart,it however will take some slight programming to get the second column to show. Here is a blog with the details : http://blogs.msdn.com/ecm/archive/2006/10/25/configuring-and-customizing-the-content-query-web-part.aspx

If you are on a site outside of the site collection, then you will want to use the Data View Web part through SharePoint designer.

Madhur,
A view is basically what i"m looking for except it needs to be on another page.

Nicola,
It's on the same site just a different page... The concept is to have a master list on a page and then have a tiny list box on on the "right side" that displays some details of that list...

Scenario being. A list of 300 people but on the main "dashboard" it will show the 5 people who have a birthday this month.

Your link may be what i'm looking for. I will review and report back.

If it is on a different page but in the same site, then in the appropriate web part zone add the list (it should be at the top of the web part gallery as one of your choices, if not select advanced web part gallery and search or browse for the master lists name) Once it is in the zone, you can edit it and create or select your view to filter to this month.

Let me know if these instructions are not enough, and I will add more steps.

Nicola,

Your instructions are perfect and I was able to duplicate that and gave me exactly what I was trying to do. However in your assistance you sparked my curiousity and I have never seen the "Content Query Web Part" before and this looks like it could do a lot of things.

However I don't have the option to add that Web Part to any of my pages. Is it version specific I'm using WSS. If not where do I add it to my gallery so I can add it to a page.

Otherwise the link previously seems to step you through the web part beautifully and I'll be good to go.

Thank you for all your help by the way.

Unfortunately the Content Query Web Part is a Publishing feature and you need MOSS installed to utilize it.
