I receive a message stating that "This page cannot be edited in SharePoint Designer. You can edit the content in the browser, or edit the corresponding page layout in SharePoint Designer." upon attempting to edit the default.aspx page in the Pages collection of a site (any site). An instance of SP Designer is opened for the site, but no document is actually opened. If I then browse the Folder List (nav pane) of Pages - Forms - default.aspx and attempt to open the page, and I already have a copy of the SharePoint Designer open for another site, the other instance of SharePoint Designer opens a file named WelcomeLinks.aspx. I just thought I would mention it to see if there is a workaround or another way to open the document not from a content modification standpoint, but rather from a page layout editing standpoint. The version of MOSS 2007 Designer is (12.0.4518.1014) MSO (12.0.6017.5000).
