    - Customise Search results I am running a contact list which holds about 800 records on sharepoint services 3.0. It runs really slow and have tried indexing columns and editing the view to show less data and none of these have worked as the list is still running really slow. If i do a search then its fine as it shows the results quickly. im happy to use the search feature but the results which are displayed are no good as dont display the fields i want to see.     - Issues With Delay Activity Has anybody had any success using the Delay activity within Visual Studio authored workflows Whenever I include a Delay activity in my workflows the workflow goes to sleep and never wakes up. If I listen for a Delay activity along with other events inside a Listen activity, I find that the other events (for example, OnTaskChanged) cause the workflow to be rehydrated as expected but the Delay activity does not. It doesn't seem to make any difference what the TimeoutDuration is set to or whether it's set statically in the designer or dynamically inside an InitiializeTimeoutDuration method.     - Suddenly unable to create a new Top Level Site We've been admin for an SPS 2003 farm that has been running great. However, users (all) are suddenly unable to create a Top Level Site or new site collection from a Site Directory. We get as far as the enter the properties page after hitting the "create site" link in the Site Directory but after entering the properties for the new site collection the "OK" button "Grey's" out when clicked and the user is not taken to a new page and the new site is not created.     - Trying to bind dropdownlist selection to Sharepoint list column on custom insert form I am building a custom insert form based on the following article: http://dattard.blogspot.com/2007/04/sharepoint-2007-filtered-lookups.html . I have a list with three columns, two of which are text and one which I want the user to select from a dropdown (a category). I built the dropdown connecting to another sharepoint list. However, I can't seem to get the value of the selected item to be bound to my original list. So what happens is that when I insert my item, I get the two text items and nothing for this category field.     - New to sharepoint workflows, where to start? Here is my situation: I have been tasked with installing/configuring/testing Sharepoint 2007 (the easy part). I have also been tasked with 2 more items: 1. Create a document workflow for a word doc library where you have 3 approvers which must approve the documents, in order. Also, approver #3 could kick the document back to approver #1, etc. (From my reading, a state machine workflow would work here) 2. Create document libraries (on different sharepoint sites) that mirror one another. In other words, as soon as lib #1 has a document that changes (approved) it would mirror that change instantly in lib #2. My issue is that I have looked around the internet and attempted to write a basic workflow in VS2005, and cant get that working...my question is are there some resources for beginners in workflow The ones I have found seem hard to follow and gloss over much detail. Heck, I dont even know if I have the right software installed (for example in VS2005, I see windows workflow objects in the toolbox, where many exaples I see have Sharepint workflow objects...Are they different ) Thanks for any help you could provide.     - protecting sensitive data Hi, Is there a good way to "hide" a text box after the form has been submitted I'm looking to create a browser enabled form that will contain sensitive data. I need a way to protect this data once the form has been filled out. The document library in which the form exists needs to be accessible to everyone - so that everybody can fill out the form.     - MOSS2007 standalone no search results Hi I have done a standalone install and added a couple of users, a couple of sites and a couple of documents. Searcing for any of these returns nothing. The default content access account (NT authority\local service) has Full read permissions to all zones under 'Policy for web application' in Central admin. A crawl has been completed but the following warnings are in the crawler log: " http://csciisris2 The object was not found. (the item was deleted because it was either not found or the crawler was denied access to it) Local Office Sharepoint Server Sites". Similarly for sps://csciisris2 and sts://csciisris2 Additionally there are some gatherer warnings in the event logs: "The start address < http://csciisris2 > cannot be crawled. Context: Application SharedServices1, Catalog 'Portal_Content' Details: The object was not found. Not sure if this is connected but there are also the following errors in the event log: Launcher Service: LoadBalancer.RegisterLauncher failed. The remote server returned an error: (404) not found.     - using custom authentication provider I have written a custom authentication provider for my web application. It is a stand alone application (not extended or being extend), earlier I used SqlMembershipProvider and it was working fine with FBA using same application. But now i am unable to authenticate users with custom provider. Entries in both the config files (Central Admin. and my application) seems to be OK. I have tried deleting custom provider's dll and then my login form givers me the error "file not found". it means it does access this dll when it is there.     - sharepoint 2007 daylight saving problem We have a Sharepoint 2007 portal and the document libraries in the site. The site and server has been patched with the latest fix for daylight saving but when we upload files in it, the time when the files were uploaded is 1 hour behind. When we create a new site on Sharepoint 2007, and did the similar, it shows the correct time.     - Elevated privileges problem Hi, I have read around the issue (Ishai Sagi, Maurice Prather etc). I'm just not sure whether this is actually my problem.... I have a web part that is attempting to display the memberships of any user in the profile database. The display should work for any logged in user. My code uses SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges delegate to get the userprofile object and from thence the membershipmanager object, then GetItems. When this code runs, not all memberships are retrieved. In fact, in my production environment, the only way to get any items listed is to log in as Sharepoint\system. I found the override IgnoreUserPrivacy ( http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms570916.aspx ) which is sadly undocumented thinking that this would give me the results I want. However, when I add this to my code, the page then fails with a 403. Debugging shows that " you must have manage user profiles administrator rights to use administrator mode". With the RunElevatedPriviliges method, I had assumed that the code executes as the app pool account. I therefore gave the app pool account "manage user profiles" permissions in SSP. However, this made no difference. I cannot seem to find out what account the code is executing as. So, I can make the web part work but not retrieve any info from the profile database, or, I can invoke what appear to be special rights, but then the wbe part fails (its a 403 as per numerous other postings).     - approval workflow Greetings, I have set up a publishing /w workflow site. (accounting) The new site inherits the site permissions from the root which are: domain admins - full control domain user - view I then set up in AD a group called: SPS-acct-contributer SPS-acct-approver I then added some test users to AD: tstAcctUser tstAcctExec and put the tstAcctExec user in the SPS-acct-approver group and put the tstAcctUser user in the SPS-acct-contributer group I then went to the site "accounting" as a domain admin and clicked on site settings/"people and groups" then from the left side nav-bar clicked on site permissions within site permissions I clicked on action/edit user permission I got a warning that stated I would be messing with the inherited permissions (yeah, yeah, no problem) I then added a new permission SPS-acct-contributer --> (sharepoint) Contribute SPS-acct-approver --> (sharepoint) Approve This seemed to make sense to me, but.... when I log in as tstAcctUser I can edit the accounting site and submit for approval when I submit for approval I get at the top of the screen that it will be doing a parallel aproval (default) I go ahead and submit when I log in as tstAcctExec I am not able to approve the changes made by tstAcctUser First -- thanks for reading through this setup Second -- what am I doing wrong Thank you Tag: How to form files *.xps or *.pdf on a SharePoint server 2007?

    - List 'View Item' in my views don't work I have several Lists in my SharePoint site that I maintain. I updated one of the DispForm.aspx pages for one of the lists and now I can't seem to view an individual item from the allitems.aspx or any other views created for the list. I am able to edit and item by selecting 'Edit Item' from the dropdown of the record. If I manuall type in the url .....DispForm.aspx ID=1 it does work which means the page is available but the link within the view is broken. The views for all the other list work just fine.     - WSS 3.0 - Drop down menu I've been searching for a few hours now .. I bet it's a simple fix.. We are attempting to use a custom list as an IN/OUT board for the staff at my office. For ease of useI thought it would be really nice if the user could click on his/her name (top right corner, where it says "Welcome <username") and have a drop down list of "IN" or "OUT" or "Lunch" etc. So these drop down menu items would have to change an item in that custom list... We need to remove this site but i can not find it any where.     - Creating an event handler for a custom content type Hi Im having troubles creating an event handler for a specific content type in share point. I managed to get the event handler to work for all document types when they are uploaded by using a ListTemplateID of 101.     - session cookies must be allowed I get the error "The form cannot be displayed in the browser because the use of session cookies has been disabled in the current browser settings. In order to load the form, session cookies must be allowed" when trying to connect to some Sharepoint 2007 infopath pages which are in the Local Intranet Zone. So why am I getting this error.     - Accessing Sharepoint 2007 through a PIX firewall . . . We have a office sharepoint 2007 server located in a dev network (192.168.4.x) (AD server, sharepoint server, exchange server and workstation on this network) . . . this network is separated from our core network (192.168.3.x) via a PIX firewall . . . I am trying to access the sharepoint website from the core network via IE7 . . . i get the login prompt, but once i log in i get a page cannot be displayed error . . . if i am on the dev network i can access the website through IE7 fine . . . i have the virtual servers in IIS on the MOS server configured for both integrated windows authentication and basic authentication . . . I have all the virtual server ports opened up in the PIX firewall. I must be missing something. Anyone have any suggestions as to what i might have configured incorrectly . . .     - Site creation and linking Good day everyone I've set up sharepoint portal server 2003 and so far no problems. Except when I create a site it works but when I try to link it to the "Sites" area nothing happens. When I click ok after entering the address and title etc, I click ok and nothing happens. When i click on Sites again there is no link to the one I just created even under sites i have added is empty. If I type the address of the site i created it comes up but if search for it nothing comes up. If i try to create it again i get the error site already exits. Apologies if I misunderstand your question, I have assumed that you want to know how to get MOSS 2007 to create pdf or xps files from word documents or other file types.

This is not possible out of the box, you would need to develop an add-on or perform this action on the client.
