    - Troube Changing Page Layout Hmm, I haven't heard of this problem before. What page layouts are you switching between When I go to my publishing site and edit the page and then click Page / Page Settings and Schedule and then switch the page layout from "(Welcome Page) Welcome splash page" to "(Welcome Page) Blank Web Part Page" and click Ok... the page layout switches. If I go back to the Page Settings and Schedule page the dropdown has my new layout selected. I think you would have to Publish and Approve the changes before un-authenticated users will see the new layout. In addition, you should set Hidden attribute of all Field elements in PropertySchema section to True. Otherwise, fields will be rendered in user interface. It has 2 methods and 1 property: InitializeWithField 每 is called, when control is initialized; OnSaveChanged 每 called, when user clicks OK button in field properties window; DisplayAsNewSection 每 true if control should be displayed as new section in field properties form. In CreateChildControls we just populate our drop-down list with some values. The crucial point here is, not to try setting values directly to custom properties in OnSaveChange (like, myField.SetCustomProperty(※MyCustomProperty§, value) ). Even if you call myField.Update() afterwards, the value won＊t be saved! More precisely, it will be saved, but then it will be overwritten by current custom property value. Looks like SharePoint calls OnSaveChange in our control, then continues to update values of custom properties from other sources (and our Hidden field in PropertySchema section is one of them), and finally calls field＊s Update method. That＊s why we need to override Update method in our custom field class and set custom property values there 每 at that point SharePoint has done his job, and won＊t change any property values. What does it render when you try to access the site by URL Not in database Does it render the site actually If it does, check your navigation structure - it might have been customized to hide something. On the other hand, you might have already looked in parent/_layouts/mngsubwebs.aspx, so the previous may be irrelevant.     - Unable to connect ... hey, if you set the authentication mode to PassThrough, it will try to retrieve the data from SQL Server as the user who is viewing the page in MOSS. However, I do know that your best bet in creating desktop client applications that open and save sharepoint documents is to use the Remote Procedure Call protocol. You can create c# code that uses a webrequest object that makes calls such as "get document" and "put document". You can use the dialog box for users to choose the document url and then use the url to make the rpc call. Microsoft Word is also using RPC. RPC will handle any type of document and does not rely on the temporary internet folder. When I create a Pages using this Content Type, approval gets 2 email notifications, one from actual person and other from "System Account". When look at error log I find "Got List Item Version, but item was null" message. Could you please help me to trace out why I am getting 2 emails instead on 1 I guess this problems with "Style Library" access.     - disabling fonts within PublishingWebControls:RichHtmlField Hi there, In designing page layouts for a MOSS 2007 publishing site, I need to ensure the font used is one specified by my CSS - i.e. don't allow users entering content to change the font. I thought I'd accomplished this by setting AllowFonts to false within the PublishingWebControls:RichHtmlField's tag properties... but no. When pasting content into this control inline styles can still be applied. I've tried setting other properties to false as well (DisableCustomStyles, AllowTextMarkup, DisableBasicFormattingButtons) to no avail. It's not really acceptable to have to tell users to edit the HTML to remove the styles, or specify that they only type directly into the pop-up 'Edit HTML Source' box which removes formatting on pasting in content - they shouldn't have to be concerned about that.     - Admin can't delete sites under portal. Which version SharePoint are you using (SPS 2003 / MOSS 2007) I assume you are creating the WSS sites under the Sites directory [Area]. Site collections are security boundaries, so you would need to assign your unique group (Universal Security Group) those permissions as appropriate. They don't need to be a site collection administrator to delete subsites, but they do need to have the "Manage Subsites" permission. This can be done with custom Site Groups (SPS 2003), or custom Permission Levels (MOSS 2007).     - best practices for moving a WSS site from test to production i think the best way is to detach the database from the test server and then attach it to the production web application. Somebody posted a good how to blog post a while back but I can't seem to find it. In a nutshell: 1. do a full backup of your farm 2. use central admin on your production server to start the restore but only restore your content databases, configurations databases will need to be fresh. 3. create new web applications with the database pointing to the corresponsing ones that you just restored. you'll want to do a few practice runs before you do this on your production server. Hi, well I don't really know what is going on, a sharepoint app was in a SQL2000 working fine for a HW upgrade its was changed to another machine with the same SQL2000 version and SP, but more CPU ,mem, and more and better HD that's all

but in the new one apears in some webparts and controls when its try to acces some lists:

"Could not continue scan with NOLOCK due to data movement" exception...

Gentlemen,

I don't know why you are getting the issue, but every time I have seen this in other forums, the problem was attributed to SQL server instead of SharePoint.

In at least one case it seems to have been resolved by (re) installing SQL sp1. Also this seems to come up more often with SBS 2003 is that the case for either of you
