Hi,

Have you installed it as a stand alone server or a complete server.

If you installed it as a complete server you can add a MOSS server to the farm en move the SSP to that server.

Grega,

You can take a backup of the farm by going to Central administration, operations and choose perform a backup.

You have to do a test to find out if you can than restore it to a different configuration (2 servers instead of 1), lucky I never needed to restore the farm

Hi

does anyone know how to restore a folder or directory containing the backup of the entire web application, to a new web application

In the restore.bat i have used the parameters: directory, restoremethod, backupid, newdatabaseserver, url.

I always seem to get errors.

Anyone have an example of the code needed to be used here

Thanks.

I don't know that you'll get 100% fidelity, but you can point your 2nd web app at the same directory that your 1st web app backups are in. From there you can choose which parts to restore and they'll be restored to your 2nd web app. I'd start small, maybe restore a content database. I've never used this method, so I'm not sure how well it will work for an entire web app. Some parts exist on the WFEs like IIS settings and hosts file entries, so there's going to be some manual work rebuilding it.
