Context

The SharePoint UI for customizing a View on a list or document library only supports 2 levels of Grouping.

Questions

1. How can more than 2 levels of Grouping be implemened in a list or library View Can this be done programmically, for example

2. Can the Data View or Content Query web part (or some other SharePoint Designer functionality) help out here

I'm kind of disparate for an answer to this one.

Thanks,

Michael.

1. everything can be done programmatically. the only question is how much money and time you have to do it

Is a basic question of setting the appropriate SPView properties ...which ones

I don't mind tweaking a bit of CAML.

No man, The MS web part that displays the view only supports two levels.

The development in question is not tweaking a bit of CAML - it is rewriting the list view webpart.

The SharePoint Designer 2007 DataView web part supports at 3 levels in my experience ...and I'm guessing it's pretty much unlimited. The DVWP isn't documented very well.
