I want to change the appearance (styles) of certain webparts only when I open the page in edit mode.

Oke, for example I want to change the background color in the CQWP. when the page is in edit mode.

I can find out the class and change the color in de CSS, but then it changes in the normal view and the edit mode.

is there like a seperate css for edit mode styles

BTW I'm working with MOSS2007

Thanks

I don't know, but you may be able to find out using the IE developer tool bar.

You can download it here:

https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx familyid=E59C3964-672D-4511-BB3E-2D5E1DB91038&displaylang=en

You can use that to get the names of the styles of a displayed web page. I've used it with some success during a branding excerise for a client (trying to make MOSS more or less match up against their corporate look & feel).

It's basically point and click. Point/click at the spot before you enter edit mode and then point / click after and see if the style changes.

Yes, I use it too.

I actually use it for some branding as well..

I set the font color of the itemstyles of the CQWP to white, but you can't see them in edit mode because the background is also white.

When I change the background-color to gray, it will also show gray in the normal view..

I'm not sure on the edit mode, I'd have to look that up. But as for figuring out the associated css classes, I actually prefer using Firebug for Firefox. With Firebug you can tweak the stylings on the fly and see the results immediately in the browser.

Yes, found the style. Thanks, excellent idea using firefox (probably can also find it with the IE dev toolbar, but I like the Firefox tool).

I added the following style to the CSS of te concerning page:

.ms-SPZone TABLE {
background-color: ######;
}

Thanks.
