    - Active directory You will need to setup a two way trust between domain A and B. When that is done you have to make sure that users from domain A has user rights on MOSS in domain B and the other way around. It is a good idea to import user profiles on both MOSS farms, but it will not affect authentication in anyway. When the truest has been setup and access rights has been given on the farms, you need to set www.a.com and www.b.com as intranet sites in IE. I went through lot's of errors and fixing it one at a time until getting this problem. I'm very interesting in the way that you solving problem by deleting some tp_ContentType row in AllUserInfo table. But what I found in SharePoint database (I mean DBName_SITE) is there is no AllUserInfo table, the only table that is closet to what you've mention is UserInfo table but again it doesn't have tp_ContentType as well.     - LDAP Membership Provider with SSL So did anyone ever figure this out I am in the same boat with LDAP via SSL. I have a couple different LDAP browsers I have installed to make sure I can actually hit it from this machine. Initially I got invalid certificate errors until I hit the server through IE and installed the certificates on my box. Then all the LDAP browsers started playing nice. However, I added the LDAP provider to the web config on the SSP admin and Central Admin sites to see if I could get it to hook in and allow me to import profiles before adding it to my MOSS Web app web config. As of right now all I get is: " The specified directory service server is not available. Please confirm that you entered the correct server name and port setting. If you are using SSL, please ensure that the specified directory service server has the correct certificates installed" under the Directory Service server name field.     - Field GUID oh .. ps ... Content Type IDs are not strictly GUIDs ... the structure is a kind of hexadecimal value. Basically .. each "out of the box" Content Type consists of a 2 digit value (with the exception of "System" which is "0x"). Each "child" item consists of the { Parent ID + " 2 digit value "} So ... 0x = System 0x 01 = Item (inherits from System) 0x01 01 = Document (inherits from Item) 0x01 20 = Folder (inherits from Item) However .. if you want to create CUSTOM content types .. then you have to do something different.     - Data from Web Service I'm using a web service to receive data for my BDC, and I'm getting a funky error: "Could not find file with Type described by TypeDescriptor's TypeName. Parameter name: typeName Error was encountered at or just before Line: '20' and Position: '16'." I can't find any articles on the web that talks about this error.     - SharePoint Designer performance is poor at best I have the same problem. I am running 32-bit vista with sharepoint designer 2007 installed. Starting up spdesign.exe is fine. When I load any page which has the default wss masterpage loaded the memory leak hits. Memory usage rises until a certain peak point anywhere from 200-800mb (alongside it using 100% of one of the CPU cores during this process) then it resets the memory back to 10mb and refreshes the page only to have the process start all over again. I can't use the Sharepoint Designer at all when it comes to building pages. After doing that, you have access (using the .Users property of the SPWeb object) to the list of users that: have access to the site and have been added explicitly (not as part of a group) or have been added through a group and have visited the site.     - Office Designer and VS interoperability Fahad: While your application cannot receive true synchronous events from the workflow built in SPD, there is nothing that prevents you from having a custom Action that writes to your database to log that certain things happened. You just need to tell your client that they must include this Action at certain points in their custom built SPD workflow. Your custom app could then read or poll the database looking for those entries and do what it needs to do. The workflow would continue processing, however. Actually, thinking about it, you could configure the custom Action to write to your DB and then poll the DB itself at certain intervals waiting for an answer. This would simulate real-tme synchronous events. This would not work in a high volume environment. If you go this route, you might want to look into semaphores, mutexes and something like WaitForSingleObject() to maintain synchronization between the custom Action and your external app instead of DB polling. It is far from an ideal solution, but if you need the functionality and it isn't there natively, you should be able to make this work. Understand that as I said above, you're out in "workaround hack" territory at this point. Don't know if that helps or muddies the waters...     - Workflows and Forms Authentication Well, I found a solution (sort of). I'll post it here for future reference... When using forms authentication, a workflow will pass only the username, not the entire string required to assign a task to someone. For example, if your Membership Provider is called "memprovider" and your username is "usera" then you could assign a task to yourself by entering memprovider:usera in the "Assigned To" field. A workflow will only pass "usera" which isn't enough in a workflow to assign a task. To work around the problem, I created a workflow in Visual Studio that concatenates the membership provider name and the username. If someone else has the same problem and needs further information on resolving the issue please let me know. On another note - also just for reference - I have never been able to successfully implement forms authentication without a reboot even though none of the tutorials I've seen mention this problem. The error in the SharePoint logs is always the same: PermissionMask check failed. asking for 0x00000005, have 0x00000000 A reboot fixes it every time. There isn't much out there on the Internet yet so hopefully this ll help someone once it's indexed by Google.     - dispersed sites - crawl with WSS Instead of spending money on bandwidth, we had an idea to disperse our WSS servers. So, we would have a central site with regional sites. Assume in this example, site A, B, and the central site. The central site hosts the portal functionality and in WSS the crawling of regional sites only.     - Sharepoint Service V3 schedule backup Help I have never gotten SharePoint to restore with the restore functionality inside of Central Admin. When I talked to MS they said they DO NOT offer config level restores. This to me somewhat makes the restore inside of Central Admin to very functional. I backup all of my DB's, note the names of my applications and the corrisponding content databases. Then I reinstall SharePoint, recreate the applications and restore the SSP(s).     - how to setup trusted connection to a sharepoint list through Access DB Hello, I have a package that reads data from a SharePoint list through an Access database using linked tables. Package is using an OLE DB connection to connect to access and everything works fine except that package keeps asking for username and password to connect to the sharepoint list. I played with the security settings in the OLE DB connection but that didn't help. Is there any way to configure the connection so that it uses windows authentication If I a open the access database directly in access, it doesn't require any username or password to view the data from sharepoint list. I deployed a page layout via a feature to the Site Col. and I now receive this error upon trying to create a new page. "There are no page layout files available in the master page library of the top-level site. Add one or more page layouts to this library before you create a page or set page properties" I verified that the feature is activated and the page layout (and the OOTB page layouts) are in the master page gallary. Has anyone seen this error I assume that there is a problem with my page layout. But this error is fairly generic.     - Port Forwarding Error 404 My company is running WSS 2k3 and we have configured access to sharepoint on port 8082. To access our sharepoint box from an external location you would go here: http://mycompanieswebsiteurl.com:8082 The problem we are encountering is when you open a document library then click on any folder in the document library you get the error "The resource cannot be found. HTTP 404". When you look in the URL the port has been removed so it looks like this: http://mycompanieswebsiteurl.com/Shared%20Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx RootFolder=%2fShared%20Documents%2f.... My question is why is the port number removed from the URL when you click on a document library folder, and how can I fix this For now I'm having our employees manually enter the port number when they get this error. Hi there,

I've assigned some users an approval workflow. They received notification via email.

Most users are ok. One user however, when he clicks on 'Edit this Task' in outlook he gets the following Error dialog box:

'An error occurred while retrieving the workflow task details. This could be caused by not having connectivity to the server or because the task no longer exists.'

I've checked and the tasks do exist. What other things could be causing this

With the Outlook 2003 environment, WSS 3.0 wouldn't integrate well if you had the Exchange Cached mode turned on. Verify this is not the case with your environment.

Edit this Task is an Url, right Verify the Url is pointing to the correct location.

Just startting playing around with this feature in WSS 3.0 & Outlook 2007, it apparently only works with MOSS see :

which really is something MS should reconsider, or better bug fix.. if you can have a workflow in WSS3.0 and Outlook 2007 I don't see why this feature should fail : - (

No but I am using MOSS 07 with Outlook 07 and they both are on the same machine, but I still receive the error.
