    - Does SPD and the data view really support ODBC connections? I've been trying to set up and use ODBC connections from the SPD but with no success. I have installed the "Microsoft .NET Framework Data Provider for ODBC" package wich is supposed to be required but it does not help. I can't even get the ODBC provider to show up in the data conncetion dialog i SPD. I've been searching on different forums on the internet but I have not found any answer to this issue. Other SPD users have however encountered the same issue. My certified Sharepoint consultant says that he or his collegues doesn't know how to do this. In fact he is dubious that ODBC is supported (wich is contrary to some of Microsofts online documentation) My questions are: 1. Does SPD support ODBC data connections 2. If so, howcome the ODBC provider isn't available from my SPD installations Any, comments, tips and answers are highly appreciated.     - Problem using email to initiate workflow Don't have an answer for you ...however we observed similar results when an authenticated user inserts an item into a list (which is supposed to trip off a workflow) vs an anonymous user inserting into the same list (no created by associated with the list entry). In the case of the anonymous user...the workflow never initiates. Would love to know why! I've found that the search works fine for documents that I have uploaded one at a time, but when I upload with the multiple documents tool those documents are not indexed or searchable. Hi, How to pass values from a web part (Filter Web Part) to the Microsoft Office Excel Web Access Web Part I want to facilitate the user to select a product from a list of products in a Filter Web Part, and then simultaneously display the current inventory level as a Microsoft Office Excel table in one Office Excel Web Access Web Part, and a sales summary over the past five years in a PivotTable report in a another Excel Web Access Web Part. And all this based on the value that you selected from the Filter Web Part.     - SharePoint 2007 Authentication issue when downloading document from Anonymous site Hi Chris, I tried this on our test server, and it works in the browser when I am actually logged onto the server, but from my desktop pc I am still be asked to authenticate! I'm only trying to downloading a csv file here, the site we have is not supposed to use excel services at all so this is really not the correct option to stop authentication.     - How can I estimate the time for a Sharepoint implementation It is easier to estimate an upgrade being about 3x (Backup/Restore process) minimum (better number would be 6x Restore time; since backups are quicker), longer if the prescan fails and custom templates were used in SPS 2003. A new installation can be quick given that SQL Server is online, Kerberos is working properly on the network, and the necessary Domain accounts can be created as required. This gives you only the SharePoint application shell, the next very time consuming tasks will be to add content and that could take years. Before doing anything with WSS/MOSS think about site structure (/w security groups) and content types required for your end-users, that is the best place to spend time and give you better insight on the content itself.     - action to display message to a user? Hi, I am new to SP workflow so this maybe a stupid question. I am creating a simple custom workflow in Designer. I want to display a message to a user if a condition fails.. Example I create a condition, If [some field] equals [foo] do action, add to list or whatever Else if [some field] does not equal [foo} Display a message to the user when workflow is instantiated and the above condition fails. I do not see an action for anything like "display message", and this may not even make sense in the SP paradigm. I just need a way to notifiy the user, besides emailing the user, or adding a to-do item, etc, of some condition failure.     - Doc lib: Making column required when using "Add from existing site columns" Ishai, I see radio buttons allowing me to set this requirement for new columns I create, and have successfully done so. But when I display a column from the "existing site column" list, there's no option to make it required or not. I want to surface a large number of documents where the creators have populated the "comments" metadata property. It's showing up in the SharePoint site as intended. But I want to make it required, just as some of the custom columns I created are required. I've looked in both places you suggested, and -- no such switch for these columns from the "existing site column" list. I found an interesting blogpost on this subject: http://www.sharepointblogs.com/dwise/archive/2007/01/08/SingleMasterPage.aspx Basically it's writing a small http module that checks for application.master when a page loads and when found it replaces it with your own masterpage. I don't know if this is fully supported, but it works fine for me ... Just make sure you have a clean masterpage ... it threw me some errors on some pages at first because I missed some placeholders.     - Can��t delete SharePoint site groups. Hi, I had a problem with a customer site, where one of the site collections had to be restored. After a complete restore of the site collections all SharePoint site groups are messed up. I can see all the groups and they are on the correct sites, but when I try to change anything one then SharePoint fails with ��Group doesn��t exist��. The solution could look like: Creat in SP Designer a workflow for the library that starts for all new and updated items. In this workflow you us a action to wait until the expiration date of the document is reached and then you send out the email. Hi,

I have defined some customized lists in the site collection and want to share them between the sub-sties.

Does anyone know why I can't see them from "Lists & Libraries" the sub-site

What changes or configuration should I take to make the things happen

That is the default nature of SharePoint. SharePoint only allows you to see lists and libraries that have been defined within that specific site. If you want a workaround, you can either code a Web Part, or use SharePoint Designer and it's DataView web part to show the list in a subsite.
