search is not working

i created a portal, it is nice and working fine...
when i was created the search is also working fine,

but i don't know, from few days it is not working, if i search it is giving messge like

No results matching your search were found.

1. Check your spelling. Are the words in your query spelled correctly
2. Try using synonyms. Maybe what you're looking for uses slightly different words.
3. Make your search more general. Try more general terms in place of specific ones.
4. Try your search in a different scope. Different scopes can have different results.

i don't know what i did.....

was i disabled any option
how to reactivate it

i need it on my site, it's urgent.
please any ideas really appreciating...

Are you sure that you use correct keyboard layout and encoding when typing in your search term inside search box

Is behaviour of search box on all search pages same as described

Ok, I'll try...

1. If you have multiple languages in language bar, Search box can misbehave like this:

for example, I have Serbian - cyrillic layout and English. So when I type in some search terms using Serbian layout on keyboard, even if the letters are same as in English, I don't receive any results. Do you have multiple keyboard layouts Try to type search terms using English keyboard layout.

2. Does all search boxes on your site behave in same way as you described in your first post Try to test search box on page results.aspx....

Have you looked at the search results in the SharePoint Central Administrator Look at the errors that are shown for your search content.

The other place to check is the Event Logs - espeically the Application logs - for the server that performs the search services (e.g. the Index service). Loog for those that are red and have SHarePoint in their source description.

Hope that gives you a few clues where to begin looking. Good luck!

Sorry for such late response. I had same situation as described in first post in this thread, so I think I have a solution...
Apparently, reason for such behaviour can be that shared services somehow lose crawl rules. \
Central Administration > Shared Services Administration > (Name of Shared Services Provider) > Search Settings

Take a look in this line
Crawl Rules
and if crawl rules are not defined it will state
"0 defined" or "No Crawl rules defined" or someting like that.

Open Crawl rules and define rules so that crawler can re-crawl content,
After that, open Content sources and crawl schedules and click "Start all crawls" on left quick-access pane.
This should work...
