I'm just getting into InfoPath 2007, so this might be a stupid question.

The thing is as follows:

I want my users to create listitems, using a browser-enabled InfoPath Form, that only fills-out part of the fields. I (as an administrator) want to be able to fill-out the rest of the fields an be able to attach a file to this listitem.

So what I basically want is an InfoPath Form, that creates a new item in my list and submits a couple of datafields.

Is this possible or what are the alternatives

I'm not sure if this covers your requirements, but you can take a look at this article: http://enterprise-solutions.swits.net/browserforms/automatically-add-item-sharepoint-list-infopath-workflow.htm . You will need SharePoint Designer to create the workflow.

This is not the solution I had in mind, but it will work for me. This way I'm also able to use a single InfoPath Form to fillout multiple fields in different SharePoint-Lists.

So I guess the answer to my question is that it's not possible to submit data directly to a SharePoint-List

Nee, helaas. InfoPath does not have built-in functionality for this. But there are two other solutions you could try, one with and one without code: See http://blogs.msdn.com/infopath/archive/2007/03/26/submitting-to-a-sharepoint-list.aspx for a solution without code and http://enterprise-solutions.swits.net/infopath2007/programmatically-add-item-sharepoint-calendar-infopath.htm for an example that submits data to an event list using code.

I just thought of one more way: Since you're using a browser-enabled form template, you should also be able to write code (in the form template) that makes use of the SharePoint Object Model to add an item to a list. I have never tried it out, but think you will have to give the form template Full Trust and sign it with a certificate for it to work.

And another SharePoint way: You can create an ItemAdded event handler on a form library in SharePoint that will add an item to list as soon as a form is submitted to the form library.

Hope this gives you enough options to choose from. The easiest way, though, is the one I suggested first.

Thanks for your solutions. I'll probably give the workflow-option a try.
