THE RAZI

Hi

I have Windows Server 2003 R2 installed then i installed Office 2007 SUITE System without SharePoint Designer.
then i installed Share point Services 3.0 with all the PreReq like .Net 2.0,.Net 3.0 etc. After that i installed SharePoint Designer and then Sql Server Developer Edition and Visual Studio 2005.
I have designed two three portals using Sharepoint Services 3.0 .Now i moved to SharePoint Designer for WorkFlows and Other Designing but it doesnot show any option for Creating a New WorkFlow in the File Menu. However i have seen a number of Articles where it is shown that a New WorkFlow can be created from the start menu.
Then i moved to Visual Studio 2005 Designer for WorkFlows.
i have installed two additional things.
1) Visual Studio 2005 extensions Windows WorkFlow Foundation
2) Visual Studio 2005 extensions for Sharepoint Services 3.0
I made a WorkFlow using the Article given below and i have followed the same sequence of steps as taken in the following article for deployment.
http://www.developer.com/mgmt/article.php/11085_3652346_2
The Workflow application is compiled Successfully and i have installed it successFully but it is not activated and not shown in the workFlow Area in the Sharepoint Portal Site.

no need to do all these things manually, visual studio take care about deploying workflow on your MOSS server, i made solution here (in below post read from PostBuildActions.bat concept.),

thanks.

Re: SharePoint - Workflow A SharePoint Workflow Issue

THE RAZI

Thanks for ur Reply..
Note: i am using WSS 3.0 instead of MOSS.
i tried first 9 steps mentioned in your Email. All goes Well.
10th and 11th Step is not applicable because i havent any InfoPath Form.
However in the 12th Step i cannot find PostBuildActions.bat
Where this file is located...
Also in Project--> Properties->Build Events-->postBuildEvents doesnot show DEPLOY or No Deploy option in the combo box.
Other Way:
I copied my Project to the TEMPLATES Folder and using command Prompt performed two steps...
1) stsadm.exe -o installFeature -name WorkFlowProject1 -force
Operation Completed SuccessFully
2) stsadm.exe -o activateFeature -name WorkFlowProject1 -url http://mySharePointSiteUrl -force
Operation Completed SuccessFully
But the WorkFlow is not shows in the WorkFlow Area. It is not even going to the "Document Library Settings "...
Could you please tell what is the problem here.

Have you tried using the the ECM SDK http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx familyid=6d94e307-67d9-41ac-b2d6-0074d6286fa9&displaylang=en. It has a different kind of workflow project for SharePoint. If you have to go to a certain site with this workflow, just change the PostBuildActions.bat in the Deployment Files Folder.

Re: SharePoint - Workflow A SharePoint Workflow Issue

1 . Create a directory in the features directory located in

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES\

2. copy all your xml files (feature.xml, workflow.xml and infopath forms (if any)), to project directory in features directory,

so your project in features directory like \12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES\Project Name.

and then perform these actions,

3. Go to 12/Bin/ in visual studio command prompt.

4. STSADM.exe -o deactivatefeature -filename PROJECTNAME\feature.xml -url http://prortal name here
5. STSADM.exe -o uninstallfeature -filename PROJECTNAME\feature.xml

6. STSADM.exe -o installfeature -filename PROJECTNAME\feature.xml -force
7. STSADM.exe -o activatefeature -filename PROJECTNAME\feature.xml -url http://portal name here

8. iisreset

After all this, please check once the project dll in project --> bin folder is in GAC. if not please install it in GAC( otherwise drag from project bin folder and drop to GAC folder).

http:\\portal name --> means on which portal you like to deploy the feature.

let me know if you again faced any problems

thanks
