Hi

I've added the link web part to my site. I'm adding links to other sharepoint sites in this link webpart. one link is intended for students and the other links is for staff.

I don't want students to see the link which is for staff, and it is fine for staff to see the two links.

so, students should see (student link) only

staff should be able to see (student link and staff link)

I'm not sure if the target audience will help to solve this but what i did is:

for the link settings I checked the target audience

I edited the staff link and selected the AD staff group.

I logged in as students and nothing change!! students are able to see the 2 links

Am I doing something wrong

Target should work. Check if your student user is in other groups. Perhaps he is a site collection admin

There is no indication here (and no way of guessing) which SharePoint product and version you are using.

It is essential that we know this, especially in cases like this that affect hiding links where there is different functionality in different versions.
