Hi,

When i try to edit permissions for a list or document library in MOSS 2007, i get the following error message;

"Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object."

"Document Library (or List) > Settings > Permissions for this List" is inaccessible for me but i can manage site or item permissions...

I suppose this problem started when i open anonymous access from central administration but i'm not sure.

By the way i must open my list to anonymous access and as i said above i can't manage permissions for lists. Is there an alternative way to open anonymous access for lists At least temporarily...

Thanks in advance

I realize that this problem is related with ViewFormPagesLockDown feature. There are articles like this and this one.

So i tried to disallow lockdown via

stsadm -o deactivatefeature -url <site collection url> -filename ViewFormPagesLockDown\feature.xml

command. It's ok with command but still i cant edit "limited access" permission which used by anonymous users. "Limited Access" permission (site settings > advanced permissions > settings > permission levels) is the key of this issue i think.

And there is an interesting situation about site variation. I've got 2 variation label in my site collection. Everything is fine in 2nd variation label. This problem occurs in source label.

I've got a production and test server. This problem occurs each servers. Is it a general sharepoint problem

Greatly appreciate any help.

It's about Regional Settings of site. Change it back to English (United States) from Turkish, and your permissions for the list will be shown.
