I am currenlty writting custom search functionality for my client to enable for customers to search against a product catalog in our database. I am using MOSS BDC to solve this problem and working fine except the following:

Some of products contain a punctuation like 'T.I.M.E.' but SharePoint seems ignore all punctuations and brings result that contains 'time'. I have tried CONTAINS or FREETEXT to address problem but no lock. Here is the same query I have been trying:

CONTAINS(TrackTitle, 'T.I.M.E.') AND "scope"='music'

CONTAINS(TrackTitle, '"T.I.M.E.*"') AND "scope"='music'

FREETEXT(TrackTitle, '"T.I.M.E."') AND "scope"='music'

Any suggestion would be really appreciated.

Eric

Re: SharePoint - Search How can I include a punctuation as part of search word?

I believe the punctuation is viewed as noise. You would have to alter the noise word file to include the ".".

There is no "." in the noise word file.
