Well sharepoint 3.0 was working fine. Yesterday night our server got updated with the update

Microsoft WSS 3.0 (KB932091)

After this the users cannot see the website at all. The message they get is an unexpected error has occured. Sharepoint is used in our department regulary and currently the work is now halted.

Strangely the central administration 3.0 works fine with no problem.

Any ideas what has actually happened

The event log shows sharepoint errors-dont know if they are related with the problem

Event id 6800

The database WSS_Content_bacbb5654cc04e2583891667a89f759e on SCHS-EXCHANGE\Microsoft##SSEE is not accessible to missing Windows Internal Database signatures.

Please Help!!!

I am sorry but i can't help you, because i have a similar Problem after this update;

Maybe my story helps someone to identify the problem:

I installed the update but it didn't finish. So i had to cancel it.
During the update i got around 20 to 40 of these errors:
ID 5084 and in MSSQL$MICROSOFT##SSEE
with no further explanation.

So i restared the server.
During bootup i get these errors:
ID 17069, ID 17101, ID 17103, ID 17104, ID 17111, ID 17176 and more
of 17XYZ in MSSQL$MICROSOFT##SSEE

And finally
ID 6800
with the explanation "No Access to the Database
'SharePoint_AdminContent_9eb1d28c-c6d7-452c-9dc2-857d0b995ac0' auf
'SBSW2K3\Microsoft##SSEE' because of missing Windows-Database
Signatures"
The error explanation is translated from german.

Now the WSS 3.0 aministrator and the WSS 3.0 sites don't work anymore.

I know something went terribly wrong. Does someone know what went
wrong, and maybe how to fix it.

Thanks in advance.

Dominik

My company also received KB932091 on 28.03.2007. We got the same problem as Sheldon with WSS 3.0 after installing. I spent the whole night getting the system back online. I did a backup of the server wmware image and reinstalled the KB on a backup of the backup. The same thing happend. The issue is 100% reproducable.

I tried to resolve the issue by running the WSS Configuration Wizard and doing a Repair for the installation. None were helpful.

The Configuration Wizard halted with call stack:

Re: SharePoint - Setup, Upgrade, Administration and Operation Update for Microsoft WSS 3.0 (KB932091)

Well i thought i was the only one. I searched for this update in microsoft KB and on yahoo, google, ............and there is virtually no sign of

it. I tried everything but no use. Since sharepoint is relatively something new in our department and only few users actually use it and we

were planning to make it a mandatory thing for the users until this crap. I completely removed it and tried reintalling ti agian and then

tried connecting with the old database but no effect and same problem. So i have to create a new site allover again. Kept on re-

installing and then all of a sudden SQLEmbeddedDatabase gave me a problem i could no longer created a database tried the

fix for it but no use. Damn it!

Came in the evening and brought my friend sharepoint 2007 server and installed it and works great now to customize from scratch

what a waste of time.

Hope your luck is not as rotten as mine!

I tried to install the KB932091 update to a very new install of Sharepoint yesterday and the patch stuck around 80% done. I had a lot of Sharepoint events in the log, but couldn't find anything to explain what happend or how to fix it. I tried all the standard reboot/repair processes, but my Sharepoint install was unresponsive.

I am now forced to reload the entire server from scratch since nothing will fix my once working Sharepoint. It looks like the patch corrupted or deleted the MSDE database and the 'default.asp' page, maybe all Sharepoint pages.

For your own sake, stay away from this patch. Nice job Microsoft.

Hi

This problem can be solved! The solution is in this thread in the newsnet groups:

http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.sharepoint.windowsservices/browse_thread/thread/b7398493e055b188/f46e7ed1a028e510 hl=de#f46e7ed1a028e510

Just in short:

- Download the patch KB932091 as file from Microsoft

- Extract it to a folder.

- Start it and let the installer run - don't cancel it! It took about 45 Minutes on my P4 3GHz server.

This fixed my WSS3.0 installation on SBS 2003.

Thanks SOOOOOOOOOO much for that info. Saved my server Smile

Think the problem may be that the patch takes so long that people think it's hung and try to cancel it, which screws SharePoint completely.

I have exactly the same problem, power went down during the patch installation. after restarting I have no access neither the sharepoint site nor central administration. I tried to repair WSS 3.0 from Add/remove programs with no success. Tried to reinstall KB932091 but it said it's already installed (and can't be uninstalled either)

Any idea

Thanks

Hi Guys

I had the same problem. and i fixed it by going here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx familyid=A49472F9-93E...
download the file that matches your OS. ie x32 or x64
If you try to run the file it will tell you the patch is already installed.
but run the file with "/extract" extrace the file to someware and run
"dw20w.msp"
Let it do its thing. It takes a while......Then presto. well as least for
me.

Let me know how you guys go with it.

Well my friend tried it out on his server and it works. However a bit too late in my case. Working now on MOSS so far no problems here!
