    - Trouble with CQWP-List type not available. Hello. I have been searching these forums for about an hour, trying to find the solution to a problem that I know is similar to what many of you have experienced with the CQWP, but I have not been able to find a definitive answer. I hope someone can shed some light on this issue once and for all. I'm am trying to use the CQWP to display a sorted list of Support FAQs that I have been putting together as an internal help resource. Support FAQs is a Custom List type that was installed automatically as part of the IT Team Workspace template. It is not available as an option under the root site. I am trying to display this list on my home page at the root level but Support FAQs is not available in the CQWP "List Type:" selection menu.     - Integrating SPS Portal Events List to an MS Access Relational DB I hope this question is in the correct place. I am running SP Portal 2 and MS Access 2003. Our SPP has a LIST of events that many departments contribute to. I want to use MS Access to develop custom itineraries based off this calendar of events. Problem: I have linked to the SPS List without trouble, however when it comes to building relationships on an SPS List I am having no luck. I have tried: 1. Linking to SPS LIST 2. Building a QUERY from a linked SPS LIST 3. Building an UPDATE Query (will not delete an event that falls off calendar) 4. Building an APPEND QUERY 每 only adds data 5. Building a MAKE TABLE QUERY 每 Destroys Relationships Desired Outcome: I would like to use the SPS Events List Records in MS Access to make a Split database (back end and front end). So that, general users outside immediate office will see the calendar of events, and those that work with the events can use MS access to develop the complex itineraries. I cannot find enough documentation on integration of SPS Portal 2 and MS Access to make the relations work. Any suggestions on getting started. I can manage simple VB and functions and have plenty of reference on the subject. But the easier and more accurate the better. Thanks for your time!     - BDC + Finder Method for Oracle Has any one got a sample ADF for the Oracle database with FinderMethod that works. I have tried created Finder Method using BDC editor, but it keeps throwing errors at me, lates one being: "The provided stream is invalid (not of type IDataReader, IEnumerable or IEnumerator). Parameter name: rawAdapterEntityInstanceStream" I checked my Return Parametrs and it looks fine to me. Any help is greatly appreciated!!     - Remote site Hello, We are planning to use WSS V3.0 to centralize information among our branches. However, the different sites are in Europe & Asia and the time latency is not very good between them. Consequently the access is quite slow and you have to be very "patient"... One solution could be installing 2 wss in Europe & Asia. but then the question is, do we have any options to synchronize two remote sites I don't see any documents related to such issues, but I guess I am not the only one who needs that kind of feature. If we have a look to some other product like Lotus, it is a very common option... I know that we can synchronize two SQL db, but there is not much information regarding WSS application...     - Document Library Web Part -> link to DispForm.aspx Hi there. I'm trying to solve a problem that appeared when I tried to create a simple page with the list of documents from my document library. I need Title field displayed as a hyperlink to DispForm.aspx, not to Document itself, and not to a dropdown menu with Edit option. The reason of this requirement is that we don't like to allow users to download document w/o reading metadata assosiated with it. On the other hand, ordinary user must not see Edit links in menu, because we don't want to tempt them to try edit document at all. Of course, I can customize the data view in Sharepoint Designer - go to Code View and manually change <xsl:value-of select="@FileRef "/> to something like ..../dispform.aspx ID=<xsl:value-of select="@ID"/ >. But this ways seems to mee a bit ugly and I don't like to repeat this for each and other document library. Is there any elegant way to solve the problem Thanks. The problem I have is with project server within sharepoint 2007. The install went fine and I had no errors. I created a Project Web Access site and I can access that with the url and all loks ok.     - MOSS - "File Not Found" after creating with site template (stp) I have a site templates (stp) file I saved off and applied when creating a site. It all appears to have been created sucessfully, Then I noticed on all the lists, doc libs, discussion boards, etc on the site, I click on them and get a MOSS (not an http 404) File Not Found error. It is attempting to load the view on "lists/<listname>/allitems.aspx as I would expect. But it gets this error. I checked, the library(s) are there and configured properly. I have seen this happen a while back and it mysteriously cleared itself up after a day or 2 . There is absolutely nothing in the event log about it. MOSS is acting like everything is hunky dory.     - How to make sharepoint 2007 apple to connect from outside we have just updated / moved the old sharepoint.. to a new server. but we still have some issues.. so far we can only use the sharepoint inside. our https://www.homesite.dk/remote is pointing to the old site. i have tryed meny ways to make it apple to connect to outside. but still no luck. is it posibul to maybe. some way make sharepoint 2007 access apple from outside. on a site like www.company.dk:8035 just to give a example.. then i think i might be apple to get the remote to connect to the new server. hope to hear from eny one soon.     - Immediate Alerts Not Running I have a medium server farm with two front end web servers. I'm a bit perplexed about a problem I've had with one of the servers. When I go to Central Administration > Operations > Timer Job Status I see that the Immediate Alerts service has failed with a status date of 10/9/2007. However, the other web server shows the status updating every 5 minutes as expected. I have disabled and reenabled alerts for the servers, both in Applications and using the stsadm command line tool. I have also changed the frequency of the alerts and even attempted to update the alert templates. I have restarted the server and I still get no update to the status date. It seems there is nothing that will tell the first server to kick off and retry running the timer job. Has anyone experience this and is there a way to instruct a specific server in the farm to run a timer job Thanks!     - LDAP Membership Provider with SSL Hi, dear MOSS community, We are trying to implement user authentication against Active Directory via LDAP. We have successfully configured the LDAPMembershipProvider WITHOUT SSL for the authentication. But if we try to do the authentication via LDAPS by changing the the attribute "useSSL" from false to true, and the port from the stardard "389" to "636", user cannot log in with their credentials anymore. Are there any steps that we are missing in the configuration By the way, we have already installed the certificates of the Active Directory on the local machine.     - Field GUID This is a very rookie question, but I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find the GUIDs of the fields of a particular content type. Say I want to lookup the TaskStatus field of a task .. how do I find its guid I can easily find the ID of a content type by going to its page in WSS and looking at the URL, but the same does not apply for fields.     - Templates Missing from Publishing Site This may be a simple fix but I am using a publishing site for an Intranet site. Everything seems to be working just fine, I can add sites to it for various departments etc., no problem. Now I want to add another site using the Document Center template but I can't because that template is not available, actually there are 4 templates missing frorm the Enterprise tab, all other templates are there in all other tabs. I can create a site from Admin using the Team Site template and from that site I can get access to all templates. Anyone get this Thanks!     - SharePoint Designer performance is poor at best Howdy, I'm using Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007 (12.0.4518.1014) on my Windows XP SP2 Workstation, Pentium D 3Ghz with 2GB RAM, to update my Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 12.0.0.4518 installed on two servers: SVR1 - Dual Xeon 5120 1.86ghz, 4GB RAM, Win2k3 R2 Standard SP2 hosts Central Admin, Help Search, E-Mail and Web Application. SVR2 - Quad Xeon E5320 1.86Ghz, 12GB RAM, Win2k3 R2 Enterprise SP2 hosts Services Database (SQL 2005). These servers are only a couple months old, so performance on their side had better not be the issue! Plus, as far as performance monitor is concerned, they are almost running idle with the site runs, gotta love power house machines. Anyway, when using SPD on my workstation it drags along. I am able to get stuff done but five times slower than normal. For example, if i'm editing a form (EditForm.aspx) for a list, and I type some words, like "Enter the person's name and information below", it displays the text in chunks of three characters at a time in about a second and a half to two seconds (using the perfected "one-one-thousand....two-one-thousand" method).So a sentence like that takes an annoyingly long time to finish. Then there's dragging objects from one cell to another in a table. That takes a good 14 "one-thousands". During the waiting period, the SPDESIGN.exe process spikes from an idle 04 CPU to 60 CPU and bounces around 40 to 60 for the duration of the action. Performance on SVR1 is more or less minimal. The w3wp process spikes to 25 CPU for about 2 one-thousands. SVR2 couldn't be more bored, running around 1% CPU for the entire duration. So, what do you suggest I can't continue working like this as it is taking so much longer than it should to do such simple tasks. Thanks for your time and your efforts.     - Office Designer and VS interoperability Hi all, I have these queries to which i havnt found answers, id be glad if anyone can give me some idea. 1. If a worklow is developed in Visual Studio 2007 and deployed in sharepoint server, can a user then use office designer to make some changes to it. If yes how would one cope up with the changes to be done in code 2. When a workflow is created by office designer, can we control it programmatically somehow in VS (Like in documentum you create a template workflow and deploy it on server, then from code you instantiate that workflow , add performers etc and do things dynamically) 3. If workflow is designed using office designer then events like OnWorkflowActivated,CreateTask are catchable in our code in VS or are we in control of that workflow in VS Thanks.     - Workflows and Forms Authentication Hello, I'm using Windows SharePoint Services 3 and SharePoint designer 2007. I've set up forms authentication and it works fine however, custom workflows fail now when attempting to set the "assigned to" field when creating a new task. For example, a user fills out a custom list and one of the fields is a person or group. When the user selects a person and submits the form it should create a new task and assign it to the person selected in the previous step. The error logged in the workflow history is "unexpected error". If I remove the "assigned to" field from the workflow then it completes successfully. Here is the entry from the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12 log: System.Workflow.Runtime.Hosting.PersistenceException: Invalid data has been used to update the list item. The field you are trying to update may be read only. ---> Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: Invalid data has been used to update the list item. The field you are trying to update may be read only. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80020005): Invalid data has been used to update the list item. The field you are trying to update may be read only. at.... I've confirmed that this problem only occurs when trying to assign the task to a person within the custom membership provider. If I modify the workflow to assign the task to a local user then it works fine. Additionally, if I pass the value to a single line text field then the workflow will complete and set the value to membershipprovider:[USER] where [USER] is the username of the correct person. If I edit the newly created task and set the Assigned to field to membershipprovider:[USER] it will assign the task to the correct person. I googled the error and there was a hotfix released for wss2 that was then distributed with wss sp2. Perhaps the error has been reintroduced in wss3. I downloaded and installed all available patches from MS with no change. Any help is greatly appreciated (please don't bash me for cross posting - the other post has gotten stale with no answer).     - dispersed sites - crawl with WSS Instead of spending money on bandwidth, we had an idea to disperse our WSS servers. So, we would have a central site with regional sites. Assume in this example, site A, B, and the central site. The central site hosts the portal functionality and in WSS the crawling of regional sites only.     - Sharepoint Service V3 schedule backup Help Hi I'm new to Sharepoint Services and I'm now trying to find information on how to setup a schedule backup for my Sharepoint Service V3 .     - how to setup trusted connection to a sharepoint list through Access DB Hello, I have a package that reads data from a SharePoint list through an Access database using linked tables. Package is using an OLE DB connection to connect to access and everything works fine except that package keeps asking for username and password to connect to the sharepoint list. I played with the security settings in the OLE DB connection but that didn't help. Is there any way to configure the connection so that it uses windows authentication If I a open the access database directly in access, it doesn't require any username or password to view the data from sharepoint list.     - "There are no page layout files available in the master page library of the top-level site..." I deployed a page layout via a feature to the Site Col. and I now receive this error upon trying to create a new page. "There are no page layout files available in the master page library of the top-level site. Add one or more page layouts to this library before you create a page or set page properties" I verified that the feature is activated and the page layout (and the OOTB page layouts) are in the master page gallary. Has anyone seen this error I assume that there is a problem with my page layout. But this error is fairly generic. I'm using a web service to receive data for my BDC, and I'm getting a funky error:

"Could not find file with Type described by TypeDescriptor's TypeName.

Parameter name: typeName Error was encountered at or just before Line: '20' and Position: '16'."

I can't find any articles on the web that talks about this error. Does anyone know what the error is saying

The Error is in line 20 of your ADF (XML-File).
