    - New to sharepoint workflows, where to start? Here is my situation: I have been tasked with installing/configuring/testing Sharepoint 2007 (the easy part). I have also been tasked with 2 more items: 1. Create a document workflow for a word doc library where you have 3 approvers which must approve the documents, in order. Also, approver #3 could kick the document back to approver #1, etc. (From my reading, a state machine workflow would work here) 2. Create document libraries (on different sharepoint sites) that mirror one another. In other words, as soon as lib #1 has a document that changes (approved) it would mirror that change instantly in lib #2. My issue is that I have looked around the internet and attempted to write a basic workflow in VS2005, and cant get that working...my question is are there some resources for beginners in workflow The ones I have found seem hard to follow and gloss over much detail. Heck, I dont even know if I have the right software installed (for example in VS2005, I see windows workflow objects in the toolbox, where many exaples I see have Sharepint workflow objects...Are they different ) Thanks for any help you could provide.     - protecting sensitive data Hi, Is there a good way to "hide" a text box after the form has been submitted I'm looking to create a browser enabled form that will contain sensitive data. I need a way to protect this data once the form has been filled out. The document library in which the form exists needs to be accessible to everyone - so that everybody can fill out the form.     - sharepoint 2007 daylight saving problem We have a Sharepoint 2007 portal and the document libraries in the site. The site and server has been patched with the latest fix for daylight saving but when we upload files in it, the time when the files were uploaded is 1 hour behind.     - Elevated privileges problem Hi SMC. I think I resolved the problem. I granted my own account "manage user profiles" in the SSP and was subsequently able to view my own memberships. I think I may have deployed the wrong assembly (ie one not using elevated privileges), so the process was running as me. I haven;t been able to test this properly yet, but thanks for your help so far. PS Sorry for the delay in replying, haven't been able to access this site from work so far this week.     - Creating an event handler for a custom content type Hi Ishai I tried debugging and the event handler is never reached when it is registerd on a content type. The same .dll registered on all document libraries works just fine. The tool that i mentioned in the previous post show that there are event handlers for the content type i created but they dont seem to be working. ( http://www.u2u.info/Blogs/Patrick/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx ID=1547 ) I checked in the features list and the feature is active, Im not sure why my event code is never reached when it is registered agains a specific content type. Except when I create a site it works but when I try to link it to the "Sites" area nothing happens. When I click ok after entering the address and title etc, I click ok and nothing happens. When i click on Sites again there is no link to the one I just created even under sites i have added is empty. If I type the address of the site i created it comes up but if search for it nothing comes up. If i try to create it again i get the error site already exits. It works really well. Have you created your custom page layout and content types using features If yes you also need to heirs IDs tthem in the site or web features section of the onet XML file. If you are not using features then maybe this is why you have a problem I'm actually only using the properties ContenType and PublishingPageLayout, not the PublishingAssociatedContentType. Are you creating your site definition onet.xml file from scratch I used the BLANKINTERNET one as a starting point. I've been searching for a few hours now .. I bet it's a simple fix..

We are attempting to use a custom list as an IN/OUT board for the staff at my office. For ease of useI thought it would be really nice if the user could click on his/her name (top right corner, where it says "Welcome <username") and have a drop down list of "IN" or "OUT" or "Lunch" etc.

So these drop down menu items would have to change an item in that custom list...

Is there any way to do this

It's made by Web Parts and ActiveX (ASP) technology. Try to dig in Web Parts, cause this is the main tool of customizing your components on page.
