Matthew Petersen

I have just started creating some custom fields in SharePoint and have had mixed results in my efforts.

For a simple combo or textbox I have implemented these with no issues. For some of the more complex types (like dual lists), I have struggled to find the required information to implement.

What I would like to find is information pertaining to the values required to implement all of the custom field types in SharePoint.

For example..

Class Name Web Control Type Parent Type
Microsoft.SharePoint.SPFieldChoice DropDownList Choice
Microsoft.SharePoint.SPFieldText TextBox Text
Microsoft.SharePoint.SPField
Microsoft.SharePoint.SPField
Microsoft.SharePoint.SPField
Microsoft.SharePoint.SPField
Microsoft.SharePoint.SPField
Microsoft.SharePoint.SPField
Microsoft.SharePoint.SPField

Specifically, the class name is inherited by the new field class, the web control is declared in the .ascx control and the parent type is defined in the FLDTYPES_*.xml file. (For more information on this pattern, see the following link)

On another topic, I would appreciate it if anyone could send me some examples for where they have implemented custom dual list controls.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Regards,

Matt
