When a user adds a new item/record to a list, they complete a field/column called date of service. This is of type Date and Time. I have set the Date and Time Format to Date Only.

When I reference this in a lookup, it displays the date that was chosen correctly, but it will also display 12:00AM. How can I keep that 12:00AM from displaying

What kind of lookup Via code or via a "lookup" column type

It is a simple workflow built with spd/workflow builder. I guess that would make it a lookup column type.

I understand ... that's a difficult problem. It's represented as a date/time and on the browser side, the control knows it's configured to show just the date, but the internal data element includes date and time.

WF is close to the data and when you do the lookup, you get the internal representation as a string.

Unfortunately, SPD does not provide any kind of string maniuplation, so you can't strip it out.

I did actually create a custom action and incorporated into SPD a while back so that I could do some basic string operations like replace, substring, etc. That's not in a shape that I can easily share it but I do plan to put it into a format suitable for codeplex, maybe as soon as this weekend.

A workaround for you could be to use a calculated field. Assign it a substring'd value based on the date and time and then reference that in your workflow.

Good luck,
