Here's a little story, I had my PC installed with WinXP Home, but it got really slow because of many programs installed and stuff, so I decided to start a new again, I put in a CD mom had bought for WinXP, but when I go to activate Windows it says the code is incorrect, I have done it lots and lots of times, but it keeps saying the code is incorrect.

I tried the code that came with my laptop and the one that came with the CD, both don't work. I basically think it's because the CD was used to install an XP, BUT that WinXP installation was removed. So I have a not working CD now, I need help, I want to activate Windows so I can use Windows Media Player and other programs.

I would appreciate the help.

No, it does not belong here. I would try one of the Windows forums or newsgroups.

I have had to call the phone # to get my winodws activate several times. No reason but it jus tcame up that wasy lately. I did reinstall winodws xp 3 times had to cause it crashed. try turning the pc off and when it boots you may get a screen saying to activate. It will ask if by phone or internet go to phone and a number will appear for you to call. try this number if it does not come up and they will give you a new code to enter. I was told after the third time you reinstall windows xp you will have to call and get it activated 888-346-5229 this is the # I called .

You must be at your pc with the windows open to enter the code #

good luck
