    - Is it possible to put the Sharepont Configuration Database in a SQL Server 2005 Database Hi Craig, ABOUT CONTEND DATABASE ONLY (I have the german version of WWS so I translate the menus back to english and maybe the translation is not correct...) In the central administration goto application administration (3th tab) goto content databases - click add content database - oberwrite the default server with your SQL Server and give in a not existing database name - supply the other values and click OK. I you now create a new wss website in the central admin you can use this database. You can also change the devault database server under "jobs" (2dn tab) and the second last Link on the right - Default database Server and the next time you will add website or a content database this will be the default server.     - Search This Site: Returns no results. not sure if you found a solution, if not here it is... In the Central Administration, click on the shared services provider > Search Settings > Content Sources open up the first content source if you have one type the urls you want to crawl and if you want to schedule for crawling do that. check the Start full crawl of this content source and click OK. wait for a while and then do the search, you would get results now...     - Editing navigation error and strange repeating URL "?BaseType=0" Also had this one, after the migration of out beta environment into a rtm install (the paths changed). It seems that if you use full url's instead of the reletive path's the error stay's away. If I tried to use relative path's the error would come back...     - Is there a way to programmatically view Sharepoint permission levels? Suggestion one is working, although a problem can arise if a user is in multiple groups. (I have also discovered that System Account is a member of all the the groups.) Say for example you have these groups in your Sharepoint Site Collection: Owners Designers Members Visitors Say for example I have a user "Bob" that is a member of the Designers and the Members groups. If I were to use this code: SPUser myUser = SPContext.Current.Web.CurrentUser; foreach (SPGroup group in myUser.Groups) { if (group.Name == "Designers") { Label.Text = "Welcome to the Designers Page!"; } else{ Label.Text = "You are not a Designer."; } } It would always go to the else statement because I have noticed the "foreach" always defaults to the lowest group on the list if a user happens to be in multiple groups.     - Backup job failed - Unable to load DLL Microsoft.Office.Server.Native.dll I never did figure it out. I did a complete re-install and configuration of SharePoint and then it worked just fine. I never figured out what caused the problem though.     - top bar nav customization Heck yes, it's easy to do. First open up the site in MOSS Designer from the page you want to edit, probably the root folder. Open the _styles folder and open the core.css. If I were you I would create a new css file and name it something along your corporate nomenclature. Edit your Master file by adding this line of text right before the </HEAD> tag. <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/_catalogs/masterpage/yourname.css"> Once you create your custom css as shown above as yourname.css, save it to the _catalogs/materpage folder in MOSS Designer. Open your yourname.css file in Desinger as well as your core.css file. Here's the tricky part: You will have to highlight the fist line of code in the core.css file in MOSS Designer. If you look in the bottom right of the Desinger, you will notice under "Manage Styles" that a selection has been highlighted under CSS styles. Click on the highlighted style and arrow down through all of the selections. It gives you a display of what the style looks like in the box immediately below the "Manage Syles" selection in a box called "Selected style preview". You can see exactly what the style looks like. Arrow down until you find the color you want to change, copy the selected css code from core.css into your new yourname.css file, change the color code and save. It should show up and leave your core.css as is. But overwrite the core.css with the files from yourname.css. As long as you have added the link to the new css file in your Master page as discussed above. You can also add gradient images and use them if you don't want to use standard colors in your css. Just replace this line: background-color d6e8ff; with this one background-image:url("/_layouts/images/framecornergrad.gif"); Just make sure your path and image are in the correct place.     - Error: access web datasheet is attempting to retrive data from a different domain I have windows 2k3 server standard edition, WSS 3.0, Office 2003 proff. When i try to edit my conent in to datasheet view it gives me error. The access web datasheet is attempting to retrive data from a different domain. you will be redirected to an error page. contact your system administrator ro resolve this error. Ok clicking Ok it redirect to another error page The list cannot be displayed in datasheet view for one or more of the following reasons: Adatasheet component compatible with windows sharepoint services is not installed, your browser does not support activex controls, or supprot for activex controls is disbled. This works gr8 if i use it in same domain. but i try to access from external domain or say web it gives me above error. What should be the reason. Or what is the mistake i might have done.     - List Data KPI set-up Hi, I'm new to KPI's in MOSS 2007, (spent the last month or so getting up to speed with infopath forms service etc) I'd like some advice on setting up a KPI dashboad. (i'll keep looking for the answer in the meantime) I'd like to set up a simple Actual vs Forecast list and measure the 2 using the MOSS KPI tools. ie. 1 list with the following colunms, 1. Client - (Look up to another list) 2. Actual (currency ��) 3. Forecast (currency ��) I'd like to display a dashboard that looks at each of the list rows and divides the actual by the forecast and then display an icon based on the percentage.     - How to generate thumbnail images from office documents? It turns out that (atleast) Word creates it's own thumbnail if you check off the 'Save preview picture' box in the document properties. This image is put in the 'docProps' folder inside the zip package and named 'Thumbnail.wmf'. Now I only need to extract this image from the package... I decided to make an eventhandler that extracts the image and puts it in a folder in the document library.     - SSRS ~ parameters Hi All, I figured out a way close to what but still not function properly. Here's what I got for the parameter property: Year: Data Type is integer, available value for non-queried is from 1995 - 2010, default value = null DateStart: Data type is Datetime available value is blank default value = cdate("1/1/' & parameters!year.value) DateEnd: Data type is Datetime available value is blank default value = cdate("12/31/' & parameters!year.value) Now if I add an extra parameter after year and set the available value as Parameters!year.value, and default value = parameters!year.value. then DateStart and DateEnd's default value will change base on the selection of the year and the calendar is showed. Now the problem is I can not hide the parameter that I have added, If I do that again the whole thing is not function the way I want. I t looks weird if I show an extra parameter on the report. In my report I have 3 parameters, year as integer, DateStart as datetime, DateEnd as datetime.     - How to use Form controls in a custom web app Hi all - I'm looking to create a custom New Form and have decided on a web app as the only way to do what I need. The basic Web App is up and running. Now I need to build the controls. Rather than using asp.net controls I would like to use the wss v3 Form Component controls such as ListFieldIterator. All the controls that inherit from Form Component require some funky setup to get them working. The SDK states that certain properties required for Form controls (eg List and ListItem) are passed as a query string when calling pages that contain these controls, but that is about all the SDK says. I have scoured the web but cannot find anything useful on how to create Form controls in code.     - Determining "Date & Time" vs. "Date Only" for a list item Thanks - that *almost* gets me there.... My problem now is that the field is a calculated field. So item.Fields["fldname"].Type == SPFieldType.Calculated, and the cast to a SPFieldDateTime fails. (Probably because the field actual contains "datetime;MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM S" instead of just the date and time.) Is there a way to tell if a field that is defined as SPFieldType.Calculated is a date field, and what the format is (date only or date/time) I am trying not to hard code field names so I need to determine the type at runtime, and then determine the output format based on the type.     - Problem in installing MOSS 2007 Hi Fan-Fan, Sorry to hear you had issues. In general, you should not change the app pool ids for MOSS directly from IISManager. Although it might work, it is generally unsupported (use central admin or stsadm instead). Also, the app pool id should only be Network Service if you installed standalone, all farm installs should have a (domain) user as the id. I believe your root cause was that the 2nd user was not defined for Sharepoint as a valid user. You may either add the user to the sharepoint's security groups in the central admin or site collection level or just grant the user access rights to the site collection directly.     - Isolated User access to WSS 3.0 sites Thanks, but it appears you are not able to do that. When you view the permissions for that list it doesn't list any, as opposed to listing everyone by default on other lists. I'm starting to wonder if I have to build a custom control and put it on the people.aspx page to check if the user is the Administrator, if not, deny them access. Hey! Does anyone know where I can download the Spanish language pack for MOSS 2007 I found something called the Sharepoint Services template pack which doesn't seem to give me what I am looking for.

You should obtain it through the channel you've got MOSS itself, e.g. MSDN/Technet Subscriber Downloads or MS Licencing portal.

I've been looking around my MSDN subscription area and can't find any language packs. I have the foreign language versions of Sharepoint itself, but no lang. packs for different site collection versions.

Anyone know where to get these

says that there are only MOSS 2007 language packs for German, English and Japanese.

(The article is dated November 16th 2006 but I would hope they would have updated it if more MOSS 2007 Language Packs were out.)

On the WSS FAQ site

I only have a link to WSS 3.0 Language Packs which ought to mean I've not seen any links to MOSS 2007 ones.

I spoke with Microsoft about this. So far, it seems you can only get the language packs through eOpen or through the MVLS website. Go figure - I thought they'd be at least available on the regular downloads site.
