Sounds like you no longer have SharePoint in that location. Open Administrative Tools and go to SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration. Click on Application Management, and then click on Site collection list. You should be able to choose your web application in the drop down to the right, and then see all site collections created. Hopefully this will show that you don't have that site anymore. If you don't even see the URL you requested, then that means that IIS web site no longer has SharePoint extensions on it.

Select the SharePoint - 80 (in your second screenshot). Then the original page (first screenshot) should show you all your site collections.

Hi Curtis,

We get the list and select

Sharepoint - 80

We assume that is located under the directory C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\80 but we cannot see any default.aspx

Would we need sharepoint to regenerate the default.aspx

Thanks

Lee

You will not see that in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\80. What does the list show you at Sharepoint - 80

Re: SharePoint - Setup, Upgrade, Administration and Operation Cannot access my Sharepoint main page

It shows - /sites/Intranet/

Then you need to go to http://<server>/sites/Intranet/ to see your site.

Hi Curtis,

There are quite a few URLs on this page.

Please take a look at this screenshot -> http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/2549/urlscreenshoteditedde3.jpg

Thank you.

Okay, here's what's going on most likely:

http://rcgpnw/ - root site collection. This site should be used as the company entrypoint into the department-based site collections, but hardly ever is due to lack of understanding of the web application - site collection architecture. Most likely this has nothing in it outside of the default Collaboration Portal site.

http://rcgpnw/MySite - hosted location for MySite. MySite is a SharePoint web-based version of your My Documents folder or home drive.

http://rcgpnw/personal/eparker/ - EParker's specific MySite location

http://rcgpnw/sites/Intranet/ - The is probably the site collection that was used to store your documents, and become your new intranet.

Hi, I am a student and I reside in India. 2 days back I downloaded the Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007 Evaliation from the Microsoft website. I performed a standalone, basic installation of the MOSS 2007. My system meets all the requirement (i.e. Server OS,.Net 3.0 , WWF etc.) . I installed ad configures the MOSS. It all went fiine. And the end of the setup it also notified that the configuration process was successful without any fail. But whenever I try to access the Sharepoint 3.0 Central Administration, I get a page stating only "An unexpected error has occurred." , even I enter correct windows credentials. Please help!

Verify your install was able to provision all databases / IIS websites (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\LOGS). Also, verify the account you used to install SharePoint with had full administrative access on the local machine. If either of these two are not the case, you might need to re-install the environment (at least to save time).
