    - Script Error with workflow setup From a Microsoft support engineer: I have had a chance to look into this a little further, and I have determined that it is a 'known issue' that the product team is actively pursuing. Although I can't promise anything, I am hopeful that a fix will be issued in the near future. In the mean-time there are a few workarounds -- although none of them are entirely desirable: 1. Users continue to click yes on the error. The changes to the documents should be saved, although you may lose out on some metadata. 2. Upgrade to Office 2007. We have determined that this issue does not exist in Office 2007. 3. Temporarily remove your content types from your document libraries. 4. Move your documents to new document libraries that do not use content types -- they could be moved back later. I will let you know if a fix is published.     - Can't search within PDF files Where did you installed the Ifilter in your farm I filter has to be installed on the Index machine. Also, which version of Adobe are you using in creating PDF files current iFilter provided by Adobe only supports 6.0 format. this means that if you are using 7.0 pdf format (last one) you will not be able to index any PDF file contents. this is a limitation of current version of iFilter provided by Adobe and might be correctly shortly with a new version of PDF iFilter.     - Entering data without formatting problems I try to copy data from my existing site to the new site using the content editor field control. I have defined my css styles and the content editor shows them all properly. But when I apply css, there are a lot of formatting issues. I also read somewhere that content in tables cannot be applied normal css styles. They need to have special naming conventions. Is that correct There are huge number of pages.     - People search on user profiles imported from AD Hello All: We are experiencing sort of the opposite of this problem and I hope you can help me out. In our case, user profiles are still showing up in the People search results AFTER the user account has been removed from Active Directory (no longer with the company). The user profile has been manually deleted from SharePoint and the record is marked as deleted in the UserProfile database table. It seems like a database indexing issue as the deleted records are not being purged out of the database index Or something else I am out of ideas....     - How do I programatically set the "Title" value of a webpart from inside an editor part. If you are posting back when the list is selected, you should be able to change the webpart's title then (on the webpart itself) and the Title box in the editor part should refresh to be that. Then, if the user changes it, it will update on the Apply. I get the feeling you may have already tried something like this.     - sending repeating group data to infopath form Hi All, I'm stuck on trying to send repeating data to an infopath form from a workflow. Heres what I'm trying to do: The association form has a repeating group for contacts in various regions ie: region name and approver. The instantiation form needs to show a dropdown list of all the regions that were set up on association. This is how we determine the approver for the task that will get created. My searches so far have been rather unpromising and I'm guessing the ItemMetadata.xml file doesnt support that sort of schema. Anyone know of any good ideas on how to get this working An idea I had was to send in a string and split it on the forms' loading event but I haven't got vs for apps yet.     - Message "The selected data source does not have any content available" when trying to create new report in Report Builder Set Logical Primary key for each view under Data Source view folder in your project. You can acheive this by opening data source view in design mode and right click on column/columns that you can make as keys for your view.     - SharePoint Security: Setting up "Forms based Authentication" Greetings. We are currently in the process of setting up a new SharePoint server with Forms based security. Since we will be using multiple Internet users we wanted to avoid the hassles of Active Directory for all (As default) and we are having some issues getting the initial forms based setup to function.     - Custom Field Type Properties Hi, Aaron You are right �C custom property value is not set, when the new field is created. I��ve missed this point somehow while developing my workaround. Sorry for that. I��ve investigated it, and came to the following conclusions: 1) Update method is not called, when new custom field item is created. Only OnAdded method is firing. 2) We can not solve this problem, by just including something like: public override void OnAdded( SPAddFieldOptions op) { base .OnAdded(op); Update(); } in our custom field type class. SharePoint calls OnSaveChange( SPField field, bool isNew ) in our custom control, providing field object, but before saving it creates the new one! That��s why custom property values will be lost. So we need to save our custom property values between object instances. This may be achieved in 2 ways: storing value in session or in some static member. I��ve chosen the second approach, because we should take in mind, that user may change custom properties of our field not only using web interface, but from API as well. In this case, I think, Session object will not be available. In addition, we should take in mind that multiple users (or multiple connections for one user) may try to modify fields of the same type across the site simultaneously. That��s why we can��t just store our custom property value in static member, but we should create static Dictionary of values, and use some Identity for each connection. I��ve chosen to use current context object hash code as identity: SPContext .Current.GetHashCode() . In addition, I think, we should avoid always storing value in static member, cause it just gives us additional head ache �C how to determine when the value is not used any more, and remove it from our static member If we won��t do it, we will create a memory leak.     - I lost a subweb but the content it's in database --- Can i reconnect it??? Here is a better question. Did you want to reconnect it so you can delete it, or did you actually want to retrieve information from it. If you just want to delete it, simply run the stsadm -o deleteweb command. If you want to retrieve it's contents you may need to either create a Network Place to it (if it will allow you to), or do some .NET coding to retrieve the contents, or touch the database (which is not recommended).     - Unable to connect ... I worked around this by changing passthrough to reverttoself and giving the sharepoint server access to the sql database using domain\machine$.     - Problem while accessing document from SharePoint server located on port other than 80 Hi all, I am facing problem while accessing document from SharePoint server located on port other than 80 . I want to access SharePoint document in my C# application. I have two options; either to use Dot Net dialog boxes or MS Word dialog boxes. 1) Using MS Word dialog box in C# , I can open the document successfully. I am accessing MS Word dialog box using Word.Application in C# (com - Word 11.0 library). But the problem exists with saving the document. The newly created document to save is not necessarily Word document, it can be pdf or txt (or with some other extension). So I need to pass filters to Save File Dialog box. And For MS Word Save File dialog box, we can not pass filters (It gives runtime error) . If we can pass filters to MS Word Save File dialog box, then also my problem can be solved. 2) I have preferred to use Standard dot net dialog boxes (Which are similar as dialog boxes used in notepad) due to limitation of MS Word dialog box specified above. Standard dot net dialog boxes works finely with filters but has some problems with accessing SharePoint documents on port other than 80. SharePoint server is located at path: http://sharepoint-serv:26791/sites/mysite I h a ve uploaded text document (SharePoint Doc.txt) on path http://sharepoint-serv:26791/sites/mysite/mydocs When I opened this txt document, the path returned was from "Temporary Internet Files" folder. If you open any document on SharePoint server located on port 80, it is directly opened from SharePoint server without downloading it on local machine. I has observed same problem in notepad also. I tried to access the document as: 1) I opened notepad 2) Clicked on File>>Open menu 3) Typed path http://sharepoint-serv:26791/sites/mysite in Filename section, and selected file SharePoint Doc.txt. 4) But the file opened as SharePoint Doc[1].txt, means notepad downloaded to folder - "Temporary internet files" which is not expected(if you open any word document on SharePoint server, it is directly opened from SharePoint server without downloading it on local machine). 5) When I tried to save the document, the Error message displayed as Cannot create the C:\Documents and Settings..... \Temporary Internet Files\...\Sharepoint Doc[1].txt Make sure that path and filename are correct. I have also tried to open the document as \\sharepoint-serv:26791\sites\mysite\SharePoint%20Doc.txt , still its not working. If the SharePoint server is located on default port (port 80), this problem doesn't exist. When I tried to access document on other SharePoint server http://sharepoint-serv/Shared%20Documents , It's working perfectly. About environment, I am using operating system Windows XP with service pack 2 installed . I am using Visual Studio 2005 and Microsoft Office 2003. SharePoint server in located in intranet having operating system Windows Server 2003 It seems notepad dialog box /Dot net dialog box can not open documents for port other than 80. Now from AAM(alternate access mapping) i add a url for internet and the anonymous access is disable my problem is that when a person go to visit the pages which are created by me its open an NTLM prompt even if the person is already logged in. I'm retrieving data from a Share Point server via the Lists web services GetList method but I'm having trouble using the returned data. The data returned in the InnerXml of the XmlNode can't be converted to XML or a DataSet since it appears that there is more than 1 root element. Good day. I've got a spreadsheet that gets external data from a SQL Server 2005 database. I want to be able to display charts and pivot tables from this spreadsheet in MOSS Excel Web Access web parts. Is there any way to accomplish this What's the point of having data connection libraries and data connection files, etc., if you can't display this data in a web part

I am not sure what you mean. The Excel Web Access web part does exactly that - you can have charts and pivottables and display them in a thin manner.

What issue are you running into that makes you think that's impossible

Sadly, it is not supported. Excel Services does not support external workbooks.
