Hello,

I am trying to do a pilot with OSSever 2007 and I am getting lost and confused with the Enterprise features.

I am able to install OSS 2007 but when I try to create a new SSP or edit an existing SSP the enterprise features like Business Data Catalog and Excel Web Services are missing and I am unable to use these features.

What am I missing Do I need an Enterprise CAL on the server in order to use these features

Please help me....

Please check whether you have the full-blown Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007.

Since this involves shared services, please check whether you have installed MOSS 2007 in a server-farm configuration.

In such cases your shared services would be living on server different from the server having the web front end components.

Gat

You must activate Entreprise License on your SharePoint farm (I think you've only activated the Standard License).

You can go to the Central Administration website, "Operations" section, then click on "Convert License Type" on "Upgrade and migration" section and then enter a valid Entreprise product key.

More information about this : http://blogs.msdn.com/sharepoint/archive/2006/11/14/version-to-version-supported-upgrade-paths.aspx

License system :

  • 1 license per server Standard or Entreprise
  • CAL for standard and Entreprise (cumulative, so if you need standard and entreprise, you'll need 1 Standard CAL + 1 Entreprise CAL)
