Hi,

I have an issue about using the multiple file upload on sharepoint 2007, we are using ADFS to authenicate users in sharepoint 2007, evrything works just fine when you're actually logged on to the server, I can upload multiple docs, export to excel etc, love it would buy it! however when accessing the site from a users desktop (using the exact same account that I was using on the server) the multiple doc upload falls over with the 'error encountered while processing files on the server, try single file upload instead' and the excel export fails to work, dialog comes up about 'unexpected error has occurred'

both the server and the client have office 2007 installed, both are using IE 6 sp2

single file upload works from the client just fine, drag and down into the explorer view works for single and multiple files just fine, but the multiple select option is just pants (from the client)

Is there any particular permissions that have to be set to allow this to work from the client

thx

Hi,

I faced with multiple file upload issue once. It was resolved by uninstalling beta version of office 2007 that was installed on machine.

Hi, I'm sorry to cut-in to your question like this but can you please tell me what document you followed for integrating ADFS + sharepoint 2007

Hello, we are faced with the same issue although going through 443 on the server gives us errors also. Through port 80 it works fine on client and server. This is a strange issue because if you upload very small files such as 2kb the multiple upload works fine. When you increase the size over that it gives the "problem with loading files on the server, try uploading one file at a time" error. We have checked all of the size limits and it's not that. We can load huge files one at a time just fine. We have been going round and round with microsoft support. We are also seeing issues with exporting to a spreadsheet. Works fine on the server but not on the client. Any suggestions would help here.

sorry Mark,

I really thought re-installing the server would help with this, unless the same mistake is being made during the install, maybe we should get Glen to try and set up a ADFS server that my virtual server can authenicate thru and see if we get the same errors on my server which is working fine.

Hello,

Did you find a solution to this issue already We are faced with exactly the same problem. Uploading via the "Multiple files..." ActiveX control doesn't work for (multiple) files with a total size larger than approx. 50 KB. Even a single file > 50 KB doesn't work when using the "Multiple files..." ActiveX control. Uploading the same file via the normal, single file upload does work.

In our setup, there is an ISA server between the clients and the web server. I was thinking that maybe the access rules / HTTP filter of ISA is causing the problems. Do you also have an ISA server (or other firewall server) in your setup Also, do you have any idea how the ActiveX control functions Does it use BITS for uploads Maybe we should check the IIS bits configuration

Hello Beat Niderost,

No we have not found a solution yet. We are still talking with Microsoft support at this time. They still have not been able to track the issue down.

We do not have an ISA but we do have a Cisco Pix 515 firewall.

Not sure how the active x functions for this. Just very strange that we can upload the small files but not anything with content.

Might not be on the same subject, but we cannot export any doc lib information to spreadsheet either. We get a "Cannot connect to the SharePoint List" error. Once again this is only on 443. On 80 it works fine.

I'll post if we find any resolution.

Mark

Hello Mark,

What I forgot to mention yesterday is that we don't use ADFS. So the problem seems not ADFS-related. The Cisco firewall is interesting. Maybe the upload protocol is abusing the HTTP protocol a bit, and firewalls tend to be very strict in what they allow to pass through HTTP (e.g. no long query strings, no high-bit characters, etc.)

Hello Beat,

That's good to know. I was starting to think it was ADFS related but maybe it's related to the secure 443 port. Still seems strange to me that we can upload small files but over the 50kb limit and boom, the error shows up. I would think the firewall would error on the smaller files also.

I will update here if we make any progress.

Thanks, Mark

Hi guys,

I have the same problem as well. Single uploads are fine - no problem, however any multiple upload from any source (DVD, UNC path or local) just fails. The error in the URL indicates that SharePoint cannot find the file. Tried with large and small files but no difference so far. Bizzare that we can upload the files that fail on the multiple using the single upload method.

Very strange.

Cheers,

Steve.

Hello Mark,

Interesting that you are thinking about secure port 443. I wasn't thinking in that direction, but the firewall. I will see if I can find a situation in which we don't use 443, to check if the problem disappears then.

Beat

Hello all,

We are still running tests with Microsoft support at this time. Does anyone else have problems outputing to excel It looks like everything is fine and then I get the error "Cannot find Sharepoint List" I have a feeling this has to do with the permissions or something. On 80 it's fine, on 443 I get the error.

I will report as I get any information but as of now, we are still stuck.

Hello Shev,

We had problems with exporting to Excel or Infopath too. Turned out to be a bad URL: http versus https. You can configure this using the alternate access mappings settings in Central Administration. Changing it there solved our problem.
