Since I've never done this before I'm fishing for some suggestions. I created a standard HTML web site using Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007. I'm looking to take this site and implement the SharePoint controls into it. How can I go about completely converting the site I created and throwing it into my SharePoint network

I did this not too long ago. I was presented with a Internet site that was already branded and was asked to recreate in MOSS. The site was done with created using FrontPage some time ago.

I started with Heather's Base Master Pages and created a minimal master page in SharePoint Designer. I then started merging the html into the base master page. The key peices for my merge was working the the needed and usefull content plalceholders into the mix and finding the right places to add the SP specific controls such as the Welcome control and search box.

In the end it was simply a merge of Heather's base page and the existing HTML from the template I was provided.

Hope this helps.
