Hi,

I had Visual Studio loaded on my machine and decided to try XNA Express. I downloaded and loaded C# express, the SDK and XNA Game Express. When starting XNA Game Express I get the following message and can't get passed it: "Package 'Visual Studio IDE Package' has failed to laod properly (GUIS =....) Would you like to disable loading this package in the future Then there is a series of similar popups saying things didn't load. Yet C#, and XNA Game Express gave me the thumbs up that it loaded properly. These messages pop up when I begin a File-New Project.

What went wrong Any clues

Thanks, Ted7

Two questions:

1) Are you trying this on Windows XP or Windows Vista (Note that XNA Game Studio Express is unsupported on Vista at this time.)

2) Are you getting this error for other project types, or just "Windows Game", "Xbox 360 Game", and the other newly-installed XNA templates

If you have also installed the XNA Framework, please uninstall that. You should not install both the XNA Framework (the redist) and XNA Game Studio Express.

Basically, it sounds as though your installation is corrupt. The easiest way to fix that is to uninstall XNA Game Studio Express and re-install it.

Tried Control Panel removal of the whole of Visual Studio Academic, Several .Net frameworks 1.1, 2.0 etc. removed C# Express and XNA Game Express. Redownloaded C# Express and XNA Game Studio Express and tried it again. Still the Package 'Visual Studio IDE Package" has failed to load properly bomb. I'm done. Can't even open a new project or try your space ship demo. Any specific ideas on what I need to uninstall Not sure where to go from here HELP

One of my problems is why do I have to Uninstall Visual Studio (which takes hours to load) in order to get the Express Version of C# and XNA Game Studio to run Professionals using Visual Studio are not going to like that. I now deleted an reinstalled for the fourth time the third time also having the same error as listed above on an Win XP machine (P 2.8 mhz, 1 gig Ram, 400 gigs hd, SP 2 loaded). Let's see if this fourth time works I just deleted the XML parsing stuff from Microsoft. Maybe this time

You do not hve to uninstall VS... VS and C# Express are seperate products that run side by side. There was a line in the read me that says that you need to remove any previous versions of the product.... but this refers to the Betas and RC versions of the products.

I would suggest that you hae a look through the Visual Studio Express Install problems group on this site and see if you can find the answer there.
