    - Noob issue (the humiliation). Can't import a cone. Also check that the cone was made in a right handed method, so that the verticies are draw counter-clockwise. apparently if drawn wrong XNA will cull and verticies drawn in the wrong direction.     - Include Directories on VISTA write protected I'm not in front of my Vista machine right now, but I have seen similar during my repeated (re-)installs of Vista over the last year or so. It all boiled down to permissions - If one user creates the files then other users may not have permission to modify them. In my case I had files installed on a seperate partition and re-installing Vista on the primary partition meant I had a new user account which didn't match the credentials for the files created under the old (and non-existant) account. If you pull up the properties for your files (I forget if it was heirarchical or if you have to go into *every* folder and select-all/apply) and look up the permissions you should be able to set the R/W permissions for different accounts (including the one you're currently using). You'll need admin priveledges of course... Proved to be a royal PITA and definitely one of my least loved Vista "enhancements" hth Jack Tag: XNA Game Studio Express XNA Launcher icon?     - DirectX8 and Vista Compatibility Have you ever had to install this file on a clean windows installation before I'm wondering how the file normally gets onto peoples machines. Since its a DirectX 8 file its not something that DirectX 9.0 will install and it seems unlikely that it would come with the OS since DirectX 8 totally predates windows XP .     - Device inside a content processor? I have figured out how to do it now, the reason is I am going to write a processor that takes an arbitrary 3D model and produces a QuadTree. At the leaf nodes of the tree will be Mesh classes which will contain parts and of course a VB/IB pair.     - Ray intersection with an octtree scene manager? For a spatial subdivision structure to be useful, then the users of that structure need to be able to accelerate queries for it to be useful. In a typical octree, you will see queries like "return list of things or nodes intersecting this OBB / AABB / Frustum / Sphere / Capsule / Line Segment." Once you have those queries, precise collision testing can be left to some other library. However, you have to make sure that the handling of your nodes is sufficiently flexible that the user can put in the necessary data in the first place. Btw: if what you do is an octree, and you don't provide management of things like procedural geometry, shader parameter state, transparency sorting, render passes and render targets, then your "scene manager" is actually just a "spatial index."     - Express edition in a machine that already has vs 2005 as the poster aboe said, it works jsut fine side-by-side, but afaik you cannot get the express edition to work with VS (though, why would you ). Particularly if you are looking to get XNA to work within VS2005, I would say no, because XNA has specific objects that will only work using the Express Edition (the game related methods and such). You have mentioned 2 out of the 3 methods (containment and shadowing)... the 3rd one is write your own spritebatch from scratch to do just what you want but thats not a great idea either. Howdy,

Is there a way to display an icon to the left of the game title on the XNA Launcher screen on the 360 It looks like there's room for one and I recall seeing them in some of the demo vids, but I couldn't find any info here or in the GSE documentation.
