XNA Rockstar

I'm still hard at work on a new game I'm working on, but it's more for fun than anything I would submit for a contest.  But I really want to enter the dream, build, play contest too, I just don't think I'll have the time to do it all on my own.

Does anyone out there want to partner up   I'm no programming guru, but I've got a few skillz.  I've been messing with XNA since beta 1, I got one (and a half) xna game(s) under my belt, and I'd say my biggest assets are creativity, thinking outside the box, analytical problem solving, writing, story, plot, characters, and high fives (not necessarily in that order)

...only reply if you plan on winning!

Do you have art and modeling skills or access to customized art and models based on what the game will be about

I might be interested.

Art is not my forte by any means. I'm an intermediate programmer (mostly 2D XNA) looking to join up with a programmer or team that could use some extra help. I'm also a creative writer, so I could add depth, creativity and backstory to the characters and plot of the game.

The best part about contests is that, win or lose, you have a cool finished game to show off to your friends, and you learn a LOT in a short period of time. But winning is pretty sweet too.

If you want to take a look at the game I made, here is a Missile Command clone made retro style. The game I'm working on right now is top secret (but I might give you a sneak peak).

Well, the pic on your site kinda gives it a way, doesn't it I think if you do a game paying homage to "that game", all the character/art/story/plot copyright issues may hinder your ability to enter into a MS sponsored contest...

I certainly can't guess what game you guys are reffering to, but that's just me.

Damn!!  My top secret game has been discovered!!  ...what gave it away, the blatantly obvious and not really blurry NES cartrige

hehe well it was only half secret...its my version that pays homage to the great game the original was.  But with custom content, plot, enemies, graphics, sounds etc and some fun twists so that it will be a unique experience.

But anyways, that's the personal project I mentioned and not one I would enter into the contest.  I want to do something entirely different for the contest with one or more people (because I'll be too time constrained to do a full game on my own).  I could either join up with something someone else is working on, or we could brainstorm on a new game and then tag team it.

If I didn't already have a couple of guys working with me, I'd bring you onboard for the game I've got going.

Thanks for the offer Jim. Looks like I'll just have to beat your contest entry now

Darkside (he made Hack-1 on the Homebrew contest) and I are going to team up on a project. But he's going to be short on time too, so a third team member would work for the best. So the offer still stands for anyone else that's interested. Hopefully one with some art skillz as we both are admitted programmer artists extraordinairre.

Ely

Hey Rockstar,

I've been a C# developer since .Net came out, but game development if fairly new to me. I'm slowly learning XNA and am working on my first game. I would be interested on developing something and learning more in a joint project.

If you're interested, contact me at elylucas@hotmail.com (email and IM).
